How long to lose 2.5 stone?

How long did it take you?

I have ADHD so I want it now. I want to see the results now. And when I don't, I give up!

I am trying again to shift this weight I've had for years. I've been up and down but never gone below 9st 13.

Currently 10st 11 and would love to go to 8st 6 perhaps or there abouts.

I have bought myself a new Fitbit to help encourage my steps etc.

I am still breastfeeding my 18m old, so I know I can't be silly with dieting but I'm really watching what I eat.

Any other tips? Realistically, could I have this weight shifted in 4-6m?

How tall are you? What's your plan?

deepcambor · 29/12/2022 23:16

2.5 stone is 35 pounds.... averaging 1.5 pounds a week loss would take 23 weeks - that is realistic and doable. The last 7 pounds will take longer than the first 7 pounds....

Not sure about the breastfeeding... you will need to adapt your calories to take in added ones for that - don't do too low.

What is your plan?

I think I’d consider if the goal is realistic for your frame first, and if you think it is consider how you are going to change your attitude to food and overall lifestyle, and then what your day to day plan would be. Then if you enter it into a tracking app you’ll get an idea of how long it will take.

I think loosing 1.5lb per week for the second stone the OP wants to loose is very ambitious.

I'm 10 st 10llbs ish. If I went lost that much people would worry I was ill. Are you sure that's ok for you to go down to? Sorry , don't mean to judge but that seems like a lot to me

golfwidow88 · 08/01/2023 21:00

Sorry, I am quite short at 5ft 2.

I am down to 10st 6 currently but on a bit of a halt with the weight shifting now..

I've been watching what I eat and been doing 10k steps a day.

I also joined the gym yesterday xx

deepcambor is exactly right. It took me 23 weeks to lose 2.5 stones (23 pounds). Only another 4.5 stones to go!!! I'm hoping to have achieved this by end of 2024!

I am finding the last stone to be the very hardest. I had 4st to lose

I lost 2st exactly between April and August, in about 20 weeks, then I have lost another stone but that took me 14 weeks and the last stone will probably take me even longer. I set aside a year to lose 4st to be realistic. That will average 1lb a week for me.

I would assume it will take you at least twice as long to lose the last 1/2 to 1 stone than it does the first one

LindorDoubleChoc · 04/12/2023 12:27

Is it realistic to aim for 8 stone 6 if you've never weighed less than 9 stone 13?

I would say don't give yourself an impossible target.

I am 5'2" and considerably heavier than you. It would take me about a year to lose 2.5 stone as I have the metabolism of a gnat and am not prepared to make drastic changes.

My adult daughter is 5ft and she tries to stay around 8st 7 which is a size 8 and looks normal for her height, it’s not that tiny if you are of small stature. She has gone up to 9st and that’s right at the top of her healthy BMI range

5’2 and 8st 6 is still a normal BMI. I do agree it might be quite hard as you get older and being realistic is a good idea
