quick question about my weight loss? (low - carb diet)

Well, I started my diet on I'll say 11 jan. That was the day I found out that I'd m/c and tbh I din't eat a lot for the following week. I lost a bit of weight. And decided to keep up with it as it gave me something else to focus on.

I'm not doing anything as drastic as the atkins. A typical day for me might look like this:

Breakfast - 1 piece of wholemeal (grain) toast with sunflower spread.

lunch - Bowl of homemade vegetable soup.

dinner - Alaskan pollock cooked in low fat greek yogurt and light soft cheese, with added garlic, herbs and lemon juice.Sprinkled with grated chedder cheese. Served with Spinach or cabbage or some other veg/salad. And some mayonnaise on the side.

snack - 1 square of 70% dark chocolate per day.

Drinks - 8 ish cups of tea (skimmed milk) and say 2 smallish glasses pepsi max.

Now I know there is room for improvement in my diet, particuarly in my drinking habits. But I am one of those weird people who doesn't like water.

My question is :

I weighed myself 1 week after I m/c and I was 10st 1, now i'm 9 st 4. That seems quite a bit to loss, is it too much?

I've lost 3 inches from my waist, but I have been doing ab crunches evryday, which have toned me up a bit.

I have 3 lively children to look after and walk nearly everday with them.

I'm loving my new eating habits, as before I was very unhealthy and ate quite a lot of junk food.

I'm not really missing my chips, potatoes or pasta at all.

Do you think this is sustainable ( I only want to loss a bit more, i'm trying to get myself down to a pre-pregnancy weight of 8 1/2 st, dd is now 18 months)?

Has anyone done this before and kept the weight off afterwards.?

All thoughts (positive or negative) greatfully recieved, thanx.

So sorry about your m/c (((hugs))).

I'm also low-carbing (started Jan 1st - like you, it's my own version although started off with Atkins) and found that the weight fell off in the first week. Apparently that's water weight, so you may find your weight loss slows down markedly - but 1-2 lbs a week is considered a healthy rate to lose. Inches are a better guide as water can make the scales go up and down quite a bit.

It's a healthy way to eat so definitely sustainable as long as you're eating enough - the protein and fat can fill you up so much it's easy to end up with too few calories. An ounce or two of macadamia nuts and pine nuts are good and you can also have plenty of eggs when you're low-carbing - great for breakfast as they keep you going till lunch. I've found this site invaluable for ideas, info and support.
