Does anyone else struggle to get back on once falling off the band wagon?

Promised myself that November 1 I would change my ways. Yesterday so the 3rd I ended up pigging out in the evening.

Now I’m finding it so hard to get my head round getting back on it. Logically it’s stupid. Anyone else?

Yes I'm definitely with you. Every day I wake up and say today's going to be the day I don't eat all the crap. Then end up eating all the crap 🤦🏻‍♀️ doesn't help I'm on mat leave atm so at home all day and it's so easy just to scoff

Do you have a reason to want to loose the weight that you can focus on?

Focusing on the why and decluttering the junk really helps me

Me! I did really well last year. I've been starting on and off for most of 2022! I've been calorie counting/noom since Monday, being very strict and logging but if nothing shifts I'm going to find it easy to slip off again 😏

I'm hypothyroid and my meds have been reduced since last time I successfully lost weight and I'm not hopeful.

It's funny because I can say I'm starting again over and over but there's obviously something stopping me.

One bad day, one bad week they don't really matter. Its what you do over the months that make a difference and progress isn't linear it will go up and down and that's totally normal. We're ordinary people with complicated lives and it's not always possible to be 100% on it.

Biologically were designed to want to eat in excess and store up fat for a rainy day but luckily for nearly all of us the rainy day never comes.

Don't think of it as falling off the wagon, that's unhelpful as it implies you need to do something arduous to catch up my climb back on.

You've had an off plan meal, that's all.

In any given week there are 170 ish hours. You've eaten badly for a couple of them.
Don't panic. Carry on eating well for the rest of them.

It's easy to catastrophise. It's better not to!

Half the battle is finding something that works for you, I lost 8 stone a few years back and have been maintaining since.

The thing that worked for me was not depriving myself of any foods, just eating a more balanced diet and keeping control of calories. By knowing I could have a bar of chocolate after dinner I didn't crave it and end up binging. I started running as well, once I saw my fitness increasing it was a far greater motivation for carrying on than weight loss.

I also though started on medication for my anxiety and had some IAPT sessions. Ultimately as i had kept failing again and again it was a multi pronged attack that eventually worked. Sounds cheesy but I also think when you learn to love your body is easier to want to look after it, but that's definitely a long journey.

I'd say: remember consistency is better than being 'perfect', find exercise you enjoy doing, don't wait for Monday or a new month- go for it, if you eat more than planned instead of thinking ah screw it may as well binge stop looking at it as failure and shrug it off.

I’m exactly the same, I feel I just cannot get my head back in the game. I find I make all the promises (to myself) and then I don’t actually do them! Therefore, my new strategy is going to be to choose very specific things I am going to do and hopefully the rest will follow.

this week: drink 2 litres of water every day; I’ve booked my gym classes and a couple of runs factored in; eat some fruit or veg with every single meal but other than that try to cut back on the stodgy carbs and bread/sugar.
i think if I have a clear plan of those few habits then I will ‘stick to it’ better that just a generalised ‘need to be on a diet’
