How to try eating healthier rather than "dieting"

Hi,

For a while now I've tried to get back into calorie counting and with little luck (usually just day to day life that seems to get in the way)

I'm not a very unhealthy person, we don't have take aways on a weekly basis (probably once a month) and rarely eat out but my downfall is coffee and a treat from Starbucks/costa.

I'm getting fed up with dieting and wanted to try just eating healthier in general.

How do I keep up this motivation and try to go off my clothing fit and feel rather than revolving around the scales?

For ref, I'm 5ft 6 and around 13 stone 2lb.

For me personally I sit okay at a 12st 7lb and my clothes fit comfortably at this weight (it's taken me a long time to bite the bullet and get clothes in my size that look and fit correctly for my shape) rather than just focusing around the numbers etc on sizes.

TIA

So l am overweight and cobsta tly trying to lose weight. But l also follow Joe Wickes on Instagram and he says make little changes.
I have decided to concentrate on my little achievements and not think about the weight side of it - so if l have resisted a biscuit or chocolate for example, or some some decent exercise l praise myself for that. Early days and will have to ramp it up but for now, not eating the treats is a start.

I think eating healthily is always a good start. ‘Dieting’ when you’re used to eating in an unhealthy way is always going to be really difficult. If you get used to eating healthily first, being kind to your body, it’s probably easier down the line to reduce calories if you choose to again at some point.

Instead of restricting, add more healthy stuff to your diet. Focus on drinking more water, more veg on your plate, more fruit etc.

The idea is you then have less space/desire for the bad stuff.

I am also a coffee shop fiend so swapped to having a black coffee instead. Calories and pennies spent hugely reduced but still got to sit in peace for 20 minutes whilst baby was asleep in the pram.

Make one change at a time and build that habit. E.g. making sure you have some veggies with each meal. Or increase your step count. Or make sure you include protien.
