ADHD and dieting

I have ADHD (no meds) and I need to lose a couple of stone which has gradually crept up in the last few years.

I've dieted in the past (haven't we all) and I really really struggle up maintain interest or have the headspace to plan and control what I eat.

I'm thinking of going out tomorrow and buying a load of slim fast tubs and just having that twice a day and a 600 cal dinner.
I'm not a big drinker or socialiser so it will be pretty easy to stick to from that prospective.

Is that mad?

Yes but I can see the appeal.

Could you instead decide on 3 low cal meals that you like and just have them every day??

Low fat yoghurt and berries
Homemade veg soup
Chicken and bacon salad

I have ADHD. I find committing to any diet really hard except once when I was getting married and it was SW. I lost 4 stone. It became my hyper focus.

Am back at SW now 4 years later and 4 stone back on. Sound crazy but I bought a countdown 6 weeks and told the consultant that I was only there to get into the right head space. So five weeks in and I'd only lost 1lb but I was happy with that as I had two holidays too.

Two weeks ago I started SW properly and lost 2.5lb. This week I have introduced exercise 3 times a week.

For me it's getting my brain to focus on the task that takes the mental power. So I started slow and built it up.

Sw works for me as it's the accountability that keep me on track. I know it's a simple diet I that you eat more good stuff less bad stuff and you end up in Calorie deficit. So if I find myself getting bored I just switch to a different diet 5:2 or shakes for a few days and then go back to SW. I actually factor in low carb days two days prior to weigh in most weeks to boost it too.

Think the thing with ADHD you have to keep things interesting otherwise you will fall off the wagon.

I planned a cheat breakfast with my husband on Friday and it was honestly the best breakfast of my life, sure it wasn't but I really appreciated it.
