Post trauma weight gain?

Can anyone share their experiences of post-trauma weight gain, and can anyone shed light on what exactly it is?
I experienced weight gain after a traumatic event, and I honestly can’t pin point the reason ? I wasn’t comfort eating (on the contrary, I probably ate less, and not differently).
Since that time I’ve had every blood test going, including hormones, vitamin deficiencies etc, but all seem good (none even borderline). I use a gym three times a week, lift weights, do lots of cardio.
I figured if it had no effect on my body , training would be a physical and emotional release, which it is. Although I’m stronger and do see changes, I simply do not have the metabolism or something I had pre trauma.
It’s been five years so I feel I’m wearing my experience like a heavy coat, and I want to feel light and free again.
Any magic cures?

To add , I take no medication and I’ve had therapy which helped to an extent. But not with this issue.

Read the body keeps the score - might have some insights

im not an expert but as I understand sometimes your body can get stuck in permanent kinda panic response and one way it can do that is to slow some functions.sue for you this has impacted in some way in your metablolism

I haven't read that book, there might be some insights

but your body will have changed a lot in five years even apart from the trauma. Could it just be that?

CurtainSchmurtain · 23/08/2022 19:22

Probably @EmmaH2022 , but it was more of a sudden change that I couldn’t reverse. And I could put it down to hormones / peri menopause etc, but hormone tests don’t suggest that (it would be early in any case).
I have read a few anecdotes about weight gain after trauma, so I just wonder for those that have experienced it, could you put your finger on why, or did it seem to happen by (bad) magic?
