So many people I know have LOST weight as they've gotten older (since university, having kids etc). HOW do they do it?

I guess I know it's probably a calorie defecit...😑But I feel like I'm the only one who's weight keeps creeping up. Must. Get. Motivated.

Mine kept creeping up despite healthy lifestyle with regular exercise.

So I started skipping breakfast, having a small late lunch and then eating a late dinner so I didn’t snack in the evening.

Seems to be working, weight steadily going down.

@bluebells12 good advice. Definitely harder to shift as I get older so need to be much more mindful of the food I'm eating!!

How much weight do you need to lose? @Nutellatea

Prisonbreak · 20/08/2022 17:03

I’m down 4 stone 2lbs so far with another stone to go. My best advice is make it a priority and don’t let excuses creep in

Ideally 2 stone.... But 1 stone would be acceptable. I've started calorie tracking today so just need to stay strong (and avoid the Saturday 🍷)

Well done @Prisonbreak What's your approach been? Any tips?

It has to be calorie deficit, scientifically. How you achieve that best varies from person to person. Fasting, keto, shakes, heavy exercise whatever- it only works if you burn more than you consume.

I've lost 1.5 stone in 3 months not through starvation but by learning the calorie content of foods and having a high protein and fibre and low sugar diet. I don't weigh my food but I'm roughly aware of calorie content. I prefer to eat lowish carb but don't deny myself carbs. I enjoy working out- spin classes, heavy weights, fast uphill treadmill walking. It's a deterrent to eat back the calories.

Richie Howie (team RH) is a tit in general but his message is useful for starting out. No fads, patience, consistency, calorie deficit.

It is all about calories in vs calories out. I walk minimum 7 miles a day and keep my calories below 2000

Also if it helps I was once told
’people want 2 years worth of results in 2 months worth of work and effort. When they don’t see rapid results they give up. Be realistic with your body and trust the process.’

i started March 2021. It’s now Aug 2022 and I’m still not at my target but I’m a hell of a lot closer

I had tried for so long to lose weight I would lose 11Ibs and couldn't get into the next weight bracket so would give up and eat.
I would put it all back on and more.

I'm 5ft 4 I was 11st 11Ibs in January 2022 I'm now 10st 3Ibs. It's going very slow some months I lose nothing, before I would get annoyed at myself and eat, now I just keep going. I'm in no rush and I'm in a much better place now. I turned 39 this year and decided I don't want to be this size at 40!!

My diet could be better it's getting there I try not to snack, I have breakfast at 10.30/11am then lunch and dinner. Some days aren't great but I don't feel bad about it like I use too. I just have a fresh start the next day.

I can see so many changes in my body my arms, back, face and neck or slimmer. I have so much more energy and I look forward to exercise. At the moment I'm skipping without the rope it has weights at the end and you do the moment of skipping without falling on your face over the rope 🤣 I'm loving it and can do 30mins without stopping. Before I was lucky if I could do 10mins. I want to lose 2st when I reach that goal the next will be 7Ibs.
