WW? Slimming World? Body Coach? Nutracheck?

Experiences welcome….I’m in my early 40s and need to lose some pudding after having two children late 30’s/ early 40’s.

I find it really hard to stay motivated due to a lack of time - young family/ carer responsibilities for elderly parent, full time work, generally being knackered a lot of the time and I stick to a healthy lifestyle and then it slides.

Have been under a lot of stress over the last year or so, and typically put myself last after everyone else - but I need to improve my health and do something for myself. Definitely conscious that the years are going by quickly, weight loss gets harder and menopause is around the corner!

I’ve done WW and Slimming World previously and know both work if you stick to them - I prefer the WW app, but have to think about SW less, plus I prefer the recipes. I don’t like the lack of portion control on SW and the danger of eating too much bacon and potatoes ;) but I think I eat better generally on it.

I am a big fan of the Body Coach exercises, but find the recipes take time.
What are everyone else’s experiences with these programmes? I need to pick the one that fits into my life best, that I don’t have to think about (I don’t have much headspace!) and I like the idea of following some sort of plan.

I don’t want to be 50 and thinking shit I should have dealt with this by now!

I recently joined my local SW group- my 4th week, not sure yet as you said the portion control bit is my issue- especially carbs are my main problem and pasta potatoes are free goods and in my mind free food is =as much as you eat - I know it is wrong but I can't control my portions

I posted about my weight loss a few months ago. I'm nearing 12kg this year and two dress sizes.

I didn't use any programmes exactly, I do a mixture of weight based exercise & running but most importantly- calorie deficit and high protein. The diet part being the absolute key. Not complicated at all, I count my calories, eat good lean meat and lots of salad and veggies and protein shakes. It's been transformative . I'm pretty strict- no sneaky puddings, cut right back on alcohol and lattes (I love an expresso now!) but it works, works, works!

I've tried most of these and I give up after a while, counting syns, logging stuff, dull recipes or just a way that isn't sustainable.
Am currently doing 14:10 intermittent fasting and finding it much more doable, less faffing, get to eat well and am loosing weight. I also walk 10k to 12k a day. Try to be calorie deficit. It's something I can see being easier to maintain longer term too.

Check out
weightlossresources.com
Its a paid website, that's basically calorie counting and exercise. Less faddy than sw i would say- and cheaper! There is a 24hr free trial.
I really like it
Not knocking sw as it suits some people brilliantly, I just find the cakirie counting a but more if a normal way of eating healthily- more sustainable in the long term, for me.

I'm easing myself in as I've had a torrid time emotionally this year.
My plan is 16/8. One meal at 1ish, protein and veg/salad not too carby. Then a low fat SW meal of an evening.
Luckily I don't drink but I have the metabolism of a sloth, so trying to add in some decent pace walking at lunch every day.

Jibb them all off.

Times your goal weight in pounds by 12. Eat that many calories a day.

Exercise by doing weights 3 times a week.

Go to bed at a sensible time.

I do all of this. I also do 16/8 fasting with the calorie count as above. That's just my personal preference for two huge meals rather than 3 smaller ones.

I have lost 21lbs so far this year. Its not flashy or quick weight loss. But it's also realistic, sustainable and undoing 20 years worth of yoyo dieting and messed up attitudes towards food. Caused by WW and SW. It's so mentally liberating not worrying about Syns and eating enough to actually get me physically through a day.

You need to do weights. That will sort your metabolism out.
