Anyone used the More Life weight loss program?

I’ve been referred by my GP but I’m already super skeptical. I can’t find ANY independent reviews of them online (not even on here!) and they seem to have flooded the Google algorithm so that when you search More Life Reviews all you get is pages of their own website and curated testimonies.

I also can’t find any information on how the program works, what it entails etc. All I know is that you do it in groups either face to face or online. Sounds like your average Fat Fighters club which is already making me doubt it’s for me.

Weird that they have managed to hide all non-approved information about them though.

I’m also skeptical because normally these programs assume you don’t know anything about nutrition and can be quite condescending. My negative attitude isn’t because I don’t want to lose weight but more that I don’t want to be spoken to like an idiot.

The woman who booked in my assessment over the phone didn’t speak great English and couldn’t tell me a single thing how this program works.

Anyone here got any history with More Life?

I did Morelife and it was some wasted time that I'll never get it back.

@tarziew you're right in saying that it's nothing like we haven't heard a million times over before. Very basic information. It doesn't help you with meal planning, food combination groups, what to eat at what time or anything like that. Beyond pointless

tarziew · 14/07/2023 17:57

I’m doing the program soon because it’s the ONLY way to get Wegovy in my area. But Wegovy has been pushed back to 2024 now so looks like I’m a fatty for the foreseeable. I have very low expectations though.

Same here today. My gp said it was Slimming World but it’s clearly not and the JobsWorth who answered the phone could barely be bothered to give me the correct website since my GP didn’t. I am 100% in agreement with you.

I was referred by my gp, made the assesment and after 3 calls finally got someone to call me and say triage may take 3 to 4 months and if by then I will still have more than 35 imc they can help me. She even asked if i wanted avdiet file she had there. I told her that in 3 months i will not have tge same imc because that is what i need help, not to wait 4 months to start a diet. They give you Saxenda in worst cases but at this point i am not waiting for anything else. I am so disappointed

Zeitics · 18/10/2023 16:25

I don´t thing some videos and counselling will work for me. I have been to several doctors and after a knee replacement I am unable to work out properly so I don´t think that that would be enough to stay 4 months waiting for a triage.
I have asked about the process on the phone and until triage it may take 3/4 months and after, if there is no medical issues, you may be contacted within 6/12 months. All that to have meetings, podcasts etc. Who assists me in the meantime. If its my problem what do I need Morelife for? I am still trying to understand why would a GP send a referral for a place that gives you meetings and podcasts. I withdraw my application. I consider it an insult for someone who is trying to have a better life quality

I didn't speak to anyone to book anything though, so they've obviously changed it a bit

I have just started with MoreLife, I opted to do face to face rather than online. The first session was more introduction but still quiet good.

Maddog33 · 20/04/2024 15:46

It seems a good idea , I'm going the course for 12 months

ValerieS · 23/06/2024 08:13

I was referred by my GP and signed up last night, though I nearly gave up close to the very start: I expect to be asked my sex, but asking for my gender (like the majority, I don't appear to have one!) surprised me and there was a further question about whether I was transgender. Is the rest of MoreLife based on reputable science? It was a pretty unconvincing start.

(BTW, you need a decent information design person - the form's very user-unfriendly on mobile)

Lolo19 · 11/11/2024 13:02

Nothing seems to have changed a few years on, and I am equally sceptical. Has anyone found this useful once started the programme?

Puzzledcat · 01/02/2025 21:47

I recently signed up for morelife digital programme, we all make mistakes. I was sold on "ongoing support via WhatsApp between sessions", hoping someone will interact with me and check in or nudge me when I'm stuck. But so far it's been basically self-led, watch videos, complete food and thought diaries and worksheets, log weight, recipes. It seems basic information, most people already know. You only get 2 sessions with a nutritionist, and I'm still waiting to hear if the ongoing support is actually available and I'm already week 3 into the process. I was hopeful to start, but feel alone, a bit cheated, and lost motivation 🙄

Has anyone finished More Life as of yet and still losing weight? I am through 9 weeks of the course and finding it very draining. I have suffered my whole adult life with being overweight and have many issues now due to it. I feel very strongly that I have heard this script a thousand times and just does not work for me, we are different, with different walks of life and my weight is a huge issue. I’m far from lazy, but mentally I am done waiting for answers. This whole year course seems to excessively outdated.

tarziew · 27/05/2025 18:47

Ok update from me. I completed 12 months of More Life and as someone said it’s time I’ll never get back. Complete and utter waste of time. They were really patronising and speaking to the lowest common denominator. Like explaining what the traffic like coding system was on food nutrition labels (red = bad, green = good). Duh! I complained about this a lot as did other people on the course. And every time we got put into a breakout room people just bitched about the course or the presenter). The only reason I stuck with it was so I could get onto the geriatric pathway. When I finished the course they STILL weren’t dispensing jabs. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone because it was painfully patronising and a waste of time.

I have just got off the phone with one of the team at More Life, Claire! Absolutely pointless, they lead you on for a year and then nothing! They should tell you at the outset that there is a higher screening and it’s so out of reach. I had to really argue my case to get to this point, this company are just rinsing the NHS with pointless courses costing probably thousands, so morally wrong to mess with people’s lives like that. I have really struggled my whole adult life with dieting and really thought this would be an answer it is not! don’t be blackmailed to stay on the course for a year as you will get no where! shame on morelife! the guy in charge has probably never had weight issues or has the slightest idea of what it feels like. If you dig deep on companies house, all social media there is no feedback from anyone on this programme.

Bugger I have been waiting for the tier 3 service to get in contact...and received a call today from morelife stating they would be in touch soon. I'm 49 have had more that 2/3 of my life dealing with disordered eating...I know that Mars bars are bad and vegetables are good...its mindset, strategies, sound nutritional advice I need not abc of dieting. I also want the injection along with doing physical exercise and taking supplements to guard against muscle waste and dietary deficiencies.
I have lost 2.5 stone recently but still at a bmi of 43. I think I'll lose the plot if it's as bad as it sounds

Dogaredabomb · 28/07/2025 18:02

Oh! Shit!

I was feeling quite hopeful and signed the digital stuff today.

What I want is psychological advice and support because, in my opinion, someone (me) with a bmi of 43 who battles roving addiction - fags, booze, gambling, spending, food - now it's just food.

But there's clearly something wrong with me that I don't think being told mars bars aren't great is going to tackle. I'd like to speak to someone sensible who understands trauma and can reassure me that tackling food wouldn't make another addiction crop up.

And I'm not going back to therapy, it's fucking boring, I am what I am. I'd just like to be an ordinary weight. And I'd like to do it in a group setting with other very fat sentient women who understand eating has nothing to do with food.

Fuck it, I'll just buy Mounjaro.

openleaf123 · 28/07/2025 20:21

Totally get your caution—if there’s barely any info or reviews, it does feel a bit odd. Since it’s through your GP and linked to Leeds University, it’s likely legit, but I’d still ask for more details before starting. Maybe see if the GP or clinic can provide a leaflet or website link? Better to go in informed!

Mindovermatter45 · 28/07/2025 21:27

I'm in the first month, the first 50 minute supposed phonecall only lasted 20 minutes.

Stuff like go up to 7k a day in steps, drink water and take two 30 minutes breathers before deciding whether to have that snack/guilt food. Set a couple of goals.

Suppose it is free to us as the user, I signed up knowing the injections wouldn't happen as our health board have been clear, it is surgery only which will probably take years to come about.

Dogaredabomb · 31/07/2025 11:31

I suppose the other alternative is a Fat Fighters type group 'therapy' type thing. Solidarity irl would be nice without being treated like an imbecile, or being weighed actually.
