Just that really.

I posted on here a few days ago as I was so fed up with slimming world. Started counting calories yesterday (figured out how much i need to be consuming in order to lose weight using a calculator online) and can't believe how much better I feel mentally already.

So much flexibility and freedom!

Also have my Fitbit in, counting my steps and calories burned and usual gym etc.

Thanks In advance x

I average 1800 cals a day but flex over a week and ensure 100g protein a day and have lost 18kg and gone from a 16 to a 12. Don't feel deprived and have had a lot of trips away and nights out in that time

That's amazing! It said I should be having 2,139 if I'm wanting to lose weight, so I have averaged mine out at 1846 and it's more than manageable. How long has it taken you to lose that? Xx

I always maintained I hate counting calories and refused to do it. But I’ve done every other diet on the planet m 16:8, juice, 4:3, intuitive, low carb and more - you name it. All were quite a struggle - and either no results or none that were long lasting.

So, I tried Noom! Literally a last resort at the age of 60 and disabled. I’m finding it a great fit for me - and it’s based around calories!! Of course, it also more supportive and helps you look at your habits more closely which has been surprisingly helpful for me. I even have breakfast now, which after the whole IF thing was a no-no in my mind.

Like a PP said, I am finding calorie counting quite creative in a way, I can eat what I choose within certain limits, and so on. I’ve also lost 6 lbs in first month. For me this is a LOT - because of my age and activity level.

SW and WW are not scams. The problem is that some people cherry pick the bits they like, e.g. eat as much as they like of a food, and don't pay attention to the rest.

Don't eat back your exercise calories OP. Calories burned by exercise are often wildly over-estimated and you may not be in a calorie deficit.

Hi,

I definitely am now! Been sticking to my calories and exercising and really enjoying it!

I tend to not eat any of my burned calories as like you said, definitely over estimated x

re. the word “scam”. I DO get what the poster was saying, because if you can easily “get round” a diet eg by eating lots of pasta etc, and that is in fact permitted in the USP of the plan, then that is NOT to my mind a healthy eating plan, and it is doing the opposite of addressing poor habits! So, the word scam is strong, but I see the poster’s point.
