Help me understand calorie intake?

Probably a very stupid question, but... I'm aiming to eat 1400 calories a day for weight loss, and I'm exercising daily. I'm using My Fitness Pal, which adjusts my calories based on how much exercise I've done (I have a FitBit tracker).

I know trackers tend to overestimate calorie burn, so I'm not going to eat back all my exercise calories, but I'm not sure how to balance it responsibly.

Should I just stick to 1400 no matter what, or should I be boosting my intake a bit on exercise days to support the exercise?

Just stick to your 1400 then the days where you haven't measured accurately enough or go out for a meal or drink will be accounted for.

I’d calculate your calories and protein needs on the James Smith free calculator which is better, then enter those amounts into MFP manually and stick to them religiously. It works!

And check out the Fitness Chef on social media, and books, really good sensible advice and support.

Oh, and don’t eat back exercise calories. If you do the James smith calculator it’s already factored into your allowance.

Yep, just stick to your normal daily allowance. Consider your exercise calories as a bonus as all of the tracking is a bit of guesswork as everyone metabolizes differently.
