Really just that... I've been carrying this for a few years... always 'big boned' but was great at 12.7 stone in my early 30's, pre children. Now have medication for throid underactivity.... but I'm a size 20...I feel old...I have lost my sparkle and its like staring up the face of a huge mountain to climb....

Dh is 42 and has lost nearly 3 stone. It is a mountain but you just fumble along for the first while. He did not have eg thyroid issues, but he has arthritis and is on a lot of medications. He says his biggest thing was coming off white bread, fizzy drinks and not snacking after 8. He only has 3 meals a day but plenty of fruit and veg. He has changed everything though-from a book how not to die. He's all about healthy eating now. You can do it but I think only if you put one foot in front of the other and say every day is a new day, so 1 bad day does not mean you're done. He has one day a week where he eats unhealthy but it's not close to what he ate before! Best of luck OP!!

100% you can do it. As Joe Wicks would say just make small changes at first and take things day by day. I.e. can you make one healthy food swap, or get moving a little more that day. I have quite a lot of weight to lose post pregnancy and this inspired me. Good luck! X

of course you can.
i highly recommend the online version of the fast 800 plan.
healthy well rounded variety of foods you will loose a fair amount early on which is encouraging.
it's very very simple to use.
once you have a good start and some healthy foods in the house you can eat more and increase your fitness.

I’m also a hypothyroidism sufferer.
Lost nearly 4 stone by weighing and logging my food on My Fitness Pal. Ignore their ridiculously low calorie target, work out your own here by taking 15-20% off your maintenance calories after working out your tdee tdeecalculator.net/
You CAN do it.

My mum lost 3.5 stone in her early sixties. She was diagnosed as type 2 diabetic and that gave her the motivation. Went from a BMI of 28 to 21 so it wasn’t a easy 3.5 stone eIther.

Yes you can. I lost 3 last year to get my BMI to 22. I just had to accept it was going to be slower (a lot slower) than it was when I was younger.
I'm nearly 60

Thank you everyone. I have a BMI of 41.... that's awful. I know I can make improvements but I equally like and eat fruit and veg and I don't get near chocolate or crisps with 2 teenage boys in the house! A fasting approach seems good... its just monumental load to shift, but I either do this or consign myself to history..😶
