Hello all,

I was inspired by another thread where OP was aiming to lose weight for her 50th in a year's time.

2 weeks today is my 39th bday which, of course, means I am 40 in just over a year!

I have a long history of yoyo dieting complicated by an alcohol addiction. (7.5years sober). I hit my peak weight of 15 stone just before covid struck. I'm 5'2' I got down to just 8 stone 8.5lbs at my lowest this time last year though a combination of low carb, intermittent fasting and going to the gym.

I had a shit time towards the end of last year and gave up going to the gym when the nights drew in. I got sloppy with my food and was 10st 4 today. Not a disaster by any means but I don't want to end up back where I was or worse. I'd like to get back down to under 9 stone.

My issues are bad habits, cravings and intolerance of any form of hunger! I'm not so much an emotional eater.

I've started on Saxenda injections just to kill off the appetite and get me going.

Any thoughts, encouragement, chums welcome!

Thanks

Hello there!

Sorry to hear that you have had such a bad time of it lately, stay strong though, you can pull through.

Last year I went on a diet to lose 6 stone for my 50th birthday, I managed to lose 5.5 stone in 7 months.

Here's my thoughts: Be disciplined, but don't be harsh on yourself. Have goals, but don't feel let down if you don't get to them, just start again if you cheat.

I avoided process foods, food with high carbohydrates such as bread, rolls, cakes etc. I mainly ate higher protein foods such as chicken, ham, eggs as well as lots of fruit, veg and fibre.

Get out and about, exercise is great for the body and mind, and also get you away from the routine of eating or snacking.

Hope that helps.

@StanleyOscar well done on your achievement! And thanks for the advice.

It's so much easier to eat healthily and stay active in the summer.

I'm just trying to work out what is sustainable long term weight/exercise wise.

Today, I had botox in my forehead (had it before) and have signed up for IPL for thread veins on my nose. I also went to the dentist this week so am all clean and shiny! Amazing how much work/money it takes just to look presentable, not even gorgeous!

I got some new make-up last week. And am trying to remember to use oil on my awful cuticles!
