2 weeks into Slimming World. Got 2 stone to lose. Lost 3 and a half pounds the first week and second weigh in is tomorrow. But feeling dwon in the dumps. Not particulary hungry as SW allows unlimited pasta, pots, rice and veggies and fruit but not feeling satisfied.
Buck me up someone please as that little voice is saying 'you're still in 'normal' range for your height, you're making yourself unhappy etc'
But I know I'm not happy really with being 2 stone over my normal weight

You are,ok, you are within a normal weight, i too am about the same overweight and alsways have been.

I am 3 days into a self imposed regime, of not eating crap, ie raiding leftover sweets, and eating too much bread.

its psychological isn't it,

WE ARE OK we ARE NOT depreving ourselves, esp with you and your pasta, that sounds like my sort of diet.

I say every yr I am going to get this weight off. I really mean it this yr tho.

fedda · 15/01/2008 18:46

i know what you mean. try to do what makes you happy, it doesn't have to be diet, can be sensible eating, healthy eating, light and happy eating.

JossStick · 15/01/2008 18:47

Oooh this sounds like me too. I'm about 2 stone overweight and have decided this is the year to lose baby tummy (youngest is coming up 5 .

However my problem is that the more telly / friends / family talk about dieting etc. the more i am put off it in a 'i'm fine as i am and have better things to do than be vacuously dieting towards some ideal' type way.

Still love to lose 2 stone though!

JossStick · 15/01/2008 18:47

Also - i'm a bit too fond of the old booze

SheikYerbouti · 15/01/2008 18:48

(It's Intergalacticwalrus, by the way Which group do tyou go to? I go to Longwell Green)

yama · 15/01/2008 18:50

What about a nice cup of tea? I'm trying to stop drinking during the week. Post dinner restlessness is usually my downfall.

pirategirl · 15/01/2008 18:57

i just remeber being one stone ligther thani am now, and my god i looked so mcuh better.
I would be happy to be that again.

I am a 16 onthe bottom now, and a stone off makes me a 12/14.

yep, def no more crapola for me.

fedda · 15/01/2008 22:59

I've checked with the cm and I'm larger then I was before Christmas!

mckenzie · 15/01/2008 23:09

I have just had my first nutrition lecture as part of my college course.
May i be so bold to make a suggestion?

Forget the word 'diet'. Cut it out of your vocabulary completely. Think of it as the worst swear word ever and you are never going to use it/hear it/speak it/whisper it again.

Now, ask yourself if you would like to have a healthy lifestyle? How would you feel about yourself if you were eating healthily?

fedda · 15/01/2008 23:15

I can't agree more.

needmorecoffee · 16/01/2008 08:48

mckenzie, I do eat healthily. I'm vegan, organic and eat lots of veg and fruit. But spent most of the last year stuck in a wheelchair so the weight snuck on. Previiosuly I was cycling 10 miles a day. I eat wholemealbread, pasta, brown rice. Rarely eats crisps or bicuits and have the odd takeout once a month.
But after being carfree for ages we are getting a car (dd is disabled) so I'm worried I'll get even fatter.
Walrus going to Staple Hill group. And you know what! They all drive there

Sorry to hear about you being in a wheelchair for a while needmorecoffee. Can you get back to doing some exercise now? What was your diet like previously when you didn't consider yourself overweight?

mckenzie · 16/01/2008 13:21

just had another thought needmorecoffee. Do you enjoy what you eat now? Perhaps the reason you don't feel satisfied even though you are eating filling foods is because you are not enjoying your food and you are emotionally not filled up (sorry if that sounds a bit 'fluffy').

jumpingbeans · 16/01/2008 13:25

I am not overweight, I am just to short, if I were 7'6 I would be just right. just to word diet makes me reach for the chocolate and biscuits

needmorecoffee · 16/01/2008 18:03

Used to eat what I liked but I've never eaten much junk. Mostly veg curries, chilli's, soups and lots of fruit. But then when you cycle a lot you can eat about anything!
I think its a combination of being in a wheelchair, no longer cycling (managed a 2 mile walk and 3 mile slow cycle today) and being in shouting distance of 40
While I'm in remission I hope to get back to cycling everywhere although getting a car is freaking me out. Like last week, I pushed dd 2 miles in her wheelchair to hospital and 2 miles back. Twice. Of course I grumbled and complained and got soaking but I did it because there was no choice and the bus wan't accessible. If I had a car I'd of hopped in it and that 4 miles of exercise wouldn't have happenend. But dd is getting bigger and heavier and the children's services are moving to a hozzie 7 miles away and things are just much harder without a car.
But back to food. The SW plan means hardly any fat. Now I know we need fat to be healthy but during this weight loss phase I need to stick to the plan or the weight wont come off.
I think I just hate thinking about it rather than having hot buttered (or vegan marged) toast cos I'm bored!

OP posts:
mckenzie · 16/01/2008 20:11

But usually as soon as you deprive yourself of something then you want it even more. Do you find that?

So how about if sometimes you let yourself have that slice of hot toast? If you get in the mindset that says you can have it but just in moderation, you might find that the desire will lessen because it is no longer a forbidden item.

As for the car, you sound like you enjoy exercise so hopefully you won't allow it to become an excuse for driving everywhere but that 7 mile trip to hospital is a given huh? .

needmorecoffee · 17/01/2008 08:40

waaaaaaaaaaaaaah. Only lost half a pound this week despite sticking to the plan and walking as much as possible.
These are the moments I feel like giving up.

OP posts:
fedda · 19/01/2008 15:42

Noooooooo, please don't give up. We all have bad days. I'm going out to walk off my banana fritters with vanilla ice cream.
