16lbs in 6 weeks... Is it possible?

BokoGoblin · 15/06/2022 15:24

I had a 1 year weight loss goal of 7st.

I am 6 weeks away from that anniversary and am 16lbs off. I've stalled for a couple of months down to bad habits.

Is it possible to hit my target do you think? If I apply myself 100%

What should I do? Gym? Fasting? HIIT?

I have no advice sorry. Im just here to say
Wow well done you!! Thats amazing! Grin

Beerme · 15/06/2022 15:45

No idea what you could do but just wanted to say how impressed I am with your loss, it must have taken a lot of hard work and determination. I hope you are so proud of what you’ve done so far. I need to lose about 2.5 stone to be healthy and it seems impossible, hoping I can do it this time.

Easy for me to say (and apologies if this is horribly patronising) but don’t get caught up
on the finish line and lose sight of what you’ve already achieved - would taking a couple of weeks longer than planned to get to your goal be the end of the world?

sillysmiles · 15/06/2022 15:53

So in a year - you've lost about 6stone? Please focus on this.

On average you have been losing 1.5-2lb per week (approx). That is phenomenal.
But realistically I'd say losing 7-10lb in the next 6 weeks is more realistic.

I'm not trying to be negative, but I hate the idea that you wouldn't enjoy/appreciate the hard work you've already done for the sake of less that 10% oh your goal.

If you aimed to save €100 in the year and at the end of the year you had €93 - because - life -. You won't think that the 93 you already had saved was crap.

Also, you already know how to loose weight - you've lost nearly 6 stone💪

BokoGoblin · 15/06/2022 16:21

It was a gastric sleeve so all came off with zero effort really.

Now I've stalled and need to get the last 16 off with some input 😂

I've continued to eat whatever I want and done zero exercise so far, so need to make some big changes!

BokoGoblin · 15/06/2022 16:22

I know I should focus on the 6 stone but we are having a reunion of the ladies that went with me who also got sleeved and they're all alreadt at goal or exceeded, so I do really want to hit my target.

When you got the gastric sleeve, did they not give you advice on how to eat? how to exercise? lifestyle changes? Things to prevent it reversing?

cataline · 15/06/2022 16:26

Could you do keto and intermittent fasting?

That works for me as a kick start when I stall.

I go really strict and eat a lot of green veg!

Yes and I followed it at first but as time went on I became more relaxed and the weight came off regardless so I just ate the meals we had as a family and still enjoyed the occasional treat and it's worked fine. My body had naturally plateaud but I would like to lose a little more.

OP posts:
BokoGoblin · 15/06/2022 16:32

No sign of it reversing! It would be impossible for me to eat like I used to, the amount of calories required to gain like I did is just not possible for me anymore.

I have a very tight restriction still, I'm not worried about gaining weight at all.

In that case I think exercise is your friend here!

I'm going to try the treadmill and swimming as they seem the least scary!

I think you should be really proud of what you’ve done rather than seeing a perceived failure in it.
2lbs a week is a healthy loss, you’d need to be losing closer to 3lbs
you do say you had the band though but continued to eat the old way. That obviously isnt healthy for your body and you may start to face issues if you are not eating much and also not getting the nutrition you need.
you say you’re not eating better and you’re not moving more, I think working on that as your goal to improve would be far more valuable for your health and probably make you feel much more positive too.

no one else can see a few pounds on you.
please don’t start fasting or any other fad diet.!
maybe just eat how you have been and start doing a small walk each day to start. If you’ve been losing approx 1.5-2lbs a week not exercising at all this could make a good difference.

BokoGoblin · 15/06/2022 17:04

I'm definitely getting the nutrition I need. My regular blood tests confirm this. I take multivitamins as well.

I do understand.

Perhaps I should have left my sleeve and previous weightloss out of the thread as that is now the focus rather than the goal for the next few months.

Shedcity · 15/06/2022 17:29

Apologies that was not my intention. I just know some people who have done the same and ended up seeing effects of that a few years later when the weight loss eventually stops. My main point I was trying (badly) to get across was that you’ve done all that by changing nothing
so just a few tweaks to your diet and exercise - or even just one of those things, could really help you push over this plateau
and equally may make you feel more positive anyway if you see for example how much further you can walk now or some other fitness goal you may have, rather than exclusively on the pounds (which I know for myself is easier said than done)
good luck with whatever you decide

BokoGoblin · 15/06/2022 17:59

No I understand and appreciate your input, thankyou. It's just usually when I mention the surgery that's all people focus on. Maybe I'm just on guard over that.

Well done that's an amazing achievement! I'm 7stone (but very short and tiny frame) so you've basically lost a whole me! - you should be so proud of yourself!

Eat well, exercise and if you don't lose the 16lb in that timeframe don't beat yourself up as you've done soooooo well. Just keep going until you do reach your goal, you will do it

Start with something you like or happy to do. Personally I find classes are better for me because it is a set time and I have someone to decide what do to!

Tryhard40 · 15/06/2022 21:21

Wow, well done 👏!

I think it's possible to lose that amount or close to it - it sounds like you are still eating whatever you fancy (but in smaller portions?) so I would look at really thinking about what you are putting into your body to nourish and care for it. Lots of fresh veg, protein (especially eggs and lean meat) and snacking on fruit and yoghurts. Try to only eat really healthy, nutritious stuff and also get out in this nice weather and do some brisk walking. Or swimming or whatever you fancy but try to do something every day even if it's just a brisk walk for 30 mins round the block.

And to reiterate what others have said - absolutely DO NOT beat yourself up if you don't lose a certain amount in a certain timeframe - you are doing this - it's a marathon not a sprint!

BokoGoblin · 15/06/2022 22:57

Thankyou, that is sound advice!
