Cheating my brain.

I've recently discovered adding cocoa powder to porridge fools my brain into thinking it's had a treat. Likewise, mixing frozen cherries or blueberries into natural yogurt and eating straightaway, my brain thinks 'oooh ice-cream, treat!'. Anyone got any brain fooling swaps?

I do the cocoa trick, tooGrin

Do you have a smoothie-maker? If so, dice a whole mango and freeze it spread out on a tray. When it's frozen, quickly transfer the cubes into a tub and store in the freezer. When you fancy some sorbet, take out 3-4 spoonfuls of cubes and whizz them up in the smoothie maker. Feels sweet and luxurious!

You can get cubed fruit ready-frozen, but they are usually mixed with something - ahem - healthy, like mango and kale. Not that there's anything wrong with kale, but there's nothing luxurious treat about it. Also, the cubes are too big to be whizzed up quickly into a smooth, stiff, puree.

@Dilbertian will give that a go. I try to keep calories level or at a slight defecit, but I love food, so anything that gives me more 'bang for my bucks' is great, and if it's also healthy food that's a bonus 😂

II find it's all too easy to get stuck in a rut of the same, easy, 'safe' foods. Jazzing things up with chilli, garlic, kimchi, miso, saffron, pretty much anything with flavour, colour or texture makes food so much more interesting and enjoyable.
