Mirrors

May just be me but I don't appear that big when looking in the mirrors at home, but at work where there is CCTV and at the at the gym I appear huge?

I've been hammering the veg these last couple of days, a bit of bloating definately down and been off work and thanks to bank holidays no gym but still seems to be the case. Scales showing the same.

🤔

Cameras adding lbs is a well known phenomenon.

You’re used to what you see in the mirror at home, and probably always stand the same way (face towards mirror), brushing teeth etc, so it would probably take a lot of weight loss or gain to notice any change. But often what we see in other mirrors can take us by surprise, or photos from different angles. Sometimes it’s genuinely an unflattering angle, but sometimes that’s just how others see you. A lot of people get spurred on to lose weight precisely because they’ve seen a photo someone else has taken unexpectedly, or they’re in the background, perhaps from the side, or from behind, and realise how big they are.

Set up a camera on self timer, and take a few photos of yourself from different angles, and you’ll soon see what you really look like.

There are 4 types of mirrors;

  1. normal mirror
  2. fat mirror
  3. thin mirror
  4. carnival mirrors

It's well known that changing rooms and gyms favour fat mirrors. I made sure my bedroom has a thin mirror, always makes me feel good before I leave the house.

I actually think I look really good in the mirrors at my gym! And different shops have different mirrors, certainly not all ‘fat mirrors’. They’d be foolish to, because you’re less likely to buy their clothes if you think you look terrible trying them on.

They tend to have thin mirrors. The mirrors in my local River Island and Next definitely do.
