Eating plan to shift perimenopause tummy?

I've been peri for a couple of years and have gained lots of weight around my tummy. I'm exercising - strength and walking - but my tummy isn't budging so I think maybe my diet isn't helping.
Does anyone have any suggestions of eating plans or ideas that would help?

Low carb helps, but smoking probably helps more. Not very healthy though!

Calorie deficit to get rid of fat. Once you reach the menopause fat is more likely to be stored around your stomach but the only thing that can make you lose fat is being in a calorie deficit. Some people find this easier to achieve by lowering carbs, or intermittent fasting, or any number of other 'diets' the best way is a way that you can stick to and doesn't feel like it's restricting you in any way.

Its a great misfortune for women that as we age and teach menopause, weight distribution simply changes and often ends up around the middle. Strength training will be amazing for muscle building and preventing osteoporosis but won't burn many calories. Just like any 'diet' , a calorie deficit is the only way to go about fat loss, whichever method you choose to achieve that. it is not possible to spot reduce or choose the area the fat shifts from, however. (That's down to genetics too) The secret is to find long term realistic healthy habits that will help you achieve a realistic deficit that won't result in frustration or binging. (Ideally something that doesn't involve drastic changes or cutting out entire food groups!) You'll get there with patience and persistence!

Yup.

Low carb, moderate protein, moderate levels of good fats, lots of veg.

Do that and you’ll be well into in calorie deficit as long as you’re active.

Plus it’s been shown to be particularly effective on abdominal fat (and for those flirting with type 2 diabetes).

It’s about balancing hormones. By that I don’t mean sex hormones. There are other hormones that take center stage and if are too high due to lifestyle are going to create havoc during menopause and menopause belly and reduce sex hormones because that’s how hormones work. I just feel for all women putting up with symptoms that are actually down to other hormones that the body prioritizes to survive and yet there is so much that can do about it, but they suffer feeling rubbish about themselves. It’s wrong on every level!!
