Weight loss - Where to begin?

Hi all, as the title suggests - where to begin?

I had my baby 4 months ago and I've not long finishing BF. I eat relatively healthy - all meals are freshly cooked using healthy options such as 5% mince, fry light spray etc. we eat a good variety a week including chicken, portion of fish, a meat free day etc. we do typically get a take away once a week which I can cut out. I don't drink or smoke.
We also sometimes use Hello Fresh.

I have access to a gym literally on my doorstep so I know I'll get a membership sorted soon and DH will happily watch baby while I go.

I have thought about slimming world or noom but I'm just not sure if that's the right way to go? I also need to work on my motivation (currently sat in my jammies whilst baby naps! I could easily be doing an apple fitness class right now....!!!)

I don't have goal in terms of the number on the scale, more so how my clothes fit and how I feel about my body. I do lack self confidence if that matters? I would like to at least drop a dress size and tone up too!

So where do I start? I'm just feeling a bit meh about it all!

It sounds like you already know OP. It has only been 4 months so take it slowly. Walking is a good exercise you can fit in with a baby. Pop them in the pushchair and go. I used to live in central London and would go for miles. Could always hop on a bus back if a needed but would just march on.

Does the gym offer pilates classes? Or start at home with a pilates class.

@fruitbrewhaha pretty sure Pilates is on apple fitness! I'll check though but yeah the gym does do that too! I may sound like I know what to do, but I really need the kick up my bum!!

Definitely start slowly. You're still in recovery and have a small baby to look after. Plus your hormones are still balancing out so be kind to yourself.
I personally don't like slimming world as I don't think it's that healthy (olive oil, nuts and seeds are good for you).
The way I'm currently losing weight is by cutting right back on carbs but not 100% restrictive and eating lots of veg and protein. Also making sensible choices (gin and slim instead of beer, Americano instead of latte, dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate).
It's slow progress but it's coming off and I don't feel miserable.
Good luck.

The weather is getting nice now so long walks with the baby will be good and you can up your daily steps each week. I think around 80-90k each week is recommended for weightloss.

Personally I like low carb and i'm doing the mumsnet bootcamp at the moment but you've got to find what works for you so you can stick to it.

My youngest is two now so i'm slow in addressing the weight gain but one thing I am doing is deep core exercises (transverse abdominals) to rebuild my core from the inside out. Pilates is good for it.

Please don’t do slimming world. I just say this from being trapped in it for a long time and all it’s bad habits. At least Noom is more about CBT and less about ‘bad foods’. It’s just an expensive my fitness pal though (MFP doesn’t have the CBT or a coach)
You don’t have to force yourself to do exercise you don’t really want to do either, find something you like doing and do that.
