Calorie deficit

Have decided to start a calorie deficit diet tomorrow. Have found a calculator that says I shoukd start on 2000 cals. (I have a lot to lose) The calculator says 1200 cal carbs 600 cals fat 200 cals protein- I'm a bit surprised at that balance..
Does that seem right..

I use the NutraCheck app. On the standard plan, that app recommends that users get 50% of energy from carbs, 35% from fat and 15% from protein. That’s not too dissimilar from the numbers you posted here.

That breakdown works for me, as I’m vegetarian and would struggle to get much more than 15% of my energy from protein.

For what it’s worth, I’ve lost 4.5 stone by roughly following the breakdown above. So there’s nothing inherently “wrong” with it, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the best breakdown for you. If you eat meat, I think you’ll easily go over that protein allowance. If that happens, that’s highly unlikely to slow down your weight loss, so I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

Thank you and well done on your weight loss. Do you mind me asking how long that’s taken?

Some apps let you change the ratio. I've used carb manager and although you would think it's just about carbs it has pre set selections you can make depending on what your doing. You can choose between lots of options low/med/high carb/fat/protein in any combination you want. It also lets you customize the ratios if you want.

@Queenofthesilverdollar I lost the first 3.5 stone in 7 months, and then needed another 7 months to lose the last stone. That change in pace was mainly because I just got a bit bored with the diet, not because of my metabolism slowing down or anything like that.

I’m on one of the monthly weightloss threads here (current one is called Lose it: April!). If you have a lot of weight to lose, you may find it useful to join a group like that. Long term motivation is the hardest thing about losing weight and I found that group really useful for support & motivation.
