I’m on day 2 of starting again after a break. I average around a 20-22 hour fast daily (sometimes 24 depending on what I’m working that day).

I have around 3 stone to lose; my downfall is chocolate and not drinking enough water.

I find my mood definitely plunges on days where I’ve eaten late (the next day I’m generally in a bad mood and it’s definitely linked to late night eating after a social occasion). I break my fast around 10am and usually have a 30-45 minute eating window before starting the fast again. I do have a more relaxed day once per week with a longer eating window.

Anyone else doing OMAD?

Just checking in - how is everybody doing?

I only started back on OMAD three days ago (had a really stressful week at work, a very sick cat and just wasn't in the right headspace before). Have already lost lost 2kg / 4lbs, most of which will be water, but it's a positive start. Hunger is bearable and feeling good so far.

To use a very annoying MN phrase, I had a 'massive' nicoise-inspired salad today (pic attached). Ended up eating only one of the eggs, though. Since having Covid in March, eggs (no matter how fresh) often taste foul to me, which is a shame as I used to love them and they're such a good source of protein. Thought things were getting back to normal, but clearly not.

Yesterday I had carrot and beetroot salad with grilled chicken and a punnet of strawberries; the day before Caprese salad and crudités. Also a home-made skinny frappucino (100-150 calories) every morning. I aim at around 800 calories at the moment and nothing too carby. Definitely need to up the protein, though.

The 'snake juice' as recommed by @Hingey definitely does help with avoiding headaches and feeling weak when fasting. That Cole Robinson guy is a total nutter and frankly, a bit of a cunt, but the recipe is sound. Much cheaper than buying electrolyte supplements and no artificial sweeteners involved. My DH cycles a lot and always takes his own snake juice mix. My mum is prone to leg cramps at night and while driving and those have also completely stopped thanks to that stuff.

Not sure if anyone is still checking this thread, but... I started omad about 10 days ago. I haven't lost any weight yet but I don't have much to lose and I'm mostly doing it to reset my relationship with food, which was not great - I went through phases of bingeing and then really restricting, which just made me miserable.

So far, I love omad. I eat whatever I want for my meal and I really, really look forward to it. And it's massively curbed my sugar cravings, which is fantastic - I had a serious addiction.

I 'clean' fast in the day - so I only drink water and occasionally a black coffee - and then I have my main meal at about 6. I don't feel ravenous in the day. I get the odd hunger pangs but by about 2 I feel absolutely fine, and like I could keep fasting until the next day if I wanted to. I guess that's a result of not continuously spiking my insulin throughout the day with snacks.

I tend to have a cracker and/or a bit of cheese, then a full meal, then some pudding, which is usually fruit and yoghurt and some dark chocolate. I'm probably eating a bit too much for my main meal because I generally feel pretty stuffed afterwards.

But I'm delighted! I'm not obsessing over food, I'm not starving, and I'm not feeling guilty because I'm not bingeing all day. It's motivated me to exercise more too.

So that's my story in case anyone's lurking and interested Smile

Nice to see some activity on this thread!

I'm also still doing OMAD and loving it. Agree with everything word, countrypunk, the change re. cravings, bingeing, etc is just incredible!

I've also never had a good relationship with food (massive bingeing tendencies pretty much since childhood) and unfortunately have a lot of excess weight to show for it. With OMAD and a couple of simple blood glucose stabilising tricks (as recommended by Ben Bikman and Jessie Inchauspé AKA glucosegodess on Instagram), for the first time ever I seem to be properly in control of what and how much I eat. For example I never managed to eat just one or two squares of chocolate / biscuits before....always the whole package. No problem at all now.

I started 23 days ago and have lost a crazy 8kg/17lbs since, despite no exercise to speak of and almost a week of completely normal eating in between when we had guest staying (incl. pasta, Indian take-away, several pieces of cake and few G&Ts).

My routine is now a coffee with a bit of cream and milk in the morning and one large meal around 5 or 6. Usually a protein with vegetables or a salad and the occasional portion of rice or potatoes (pics of typical meals attached), often followed by some quark or greek yoghurt with berries for pudding and another coffee. About 800 to 1000 calories in total. I'm hardly ever hungry or tired during the day.

To stabilse blood glucose I have a tbsp of apple cider vinegar in some water (bleurgh) before my morning coffee and evening meal and a small starter of fiber-rich green vegetables before I eat anything else. I also try to go for a ten minute walk after any meal. These are all tips from Jessie Inchauspé's Instagram (really good account with lots of interesting info on blood glucose) and I can't believe what a massive difference they seem to make. Over the moon with the weightloss so far and my skin looks great as well.

Fantastic results @WhiteHydrangeas! You must be thrilled.

Sorry to read you've also had issues with disordered eating. It's such an exhausting cycle, and amazing to feel free of it. Now we can get back to actually enjoying our food rather than shovelling it in in a panic because we're planning to restrict like mad the following day.

It's the first 'diet' where I feel like I could do this forever and be HAPPY. Amazing. I love my food so much and the thought of constantly battling the urge to eat for the rest of my life is not a welcome one.

I'll check out those Instagram accounts, they sound very interesting.

Your plates look delicious by the way!

hello! Is anyone still doing this?

I was thinking about alternating one meal a day and two meals a day for a few weeks as I really need to get to grips with my weight. I find that if I eat breakfast then it sort of unleases a day of bingeing, yet if I hold off until lunch or dinner I don't really think about it and can eat a normal sized meal at night. I want to try it for a while anyway and see how it goes.
