Lack of support from friends-is this common?

Hi, wasn't sure which thread to go on, hope you don't mind!
I am overweight - largely due to past depression and medication I was on-not forgetting the comfort food.
I was surprised by the negative reaction i got from my friend today when i told her i am going for long pram walks etc and doing sw to get back to how i was before pnd.
It reminded me of when i gave up smoking years ago and friends were really unsupportive because they were losing another smoking buddy.
Does anyone else find their friends are unsupportive - as if they want them to stay big and unhappy?

i have also found this with smoking and weight loss.

it makes it incredibly difficult. you can do two things:

  1. tell them how it is
  2. let their 'unsupportiveness' empower you.

good luck, you can do it but you definitely must find the strength inside, other people just cannot be relied on

Yes, you're right about other people.
I will use it like you say- to empower me!
My exh had a smirk when he saw I'd got an exercise bike off someone-but expected a bit more from my friend.
I would normally have gotten really down and binged out on stuff but I am determined.
