Hi
I’ve got about 2.5 stone to loose and just can’t see to get in the zone.
Just wondering what works best for people, slimmingworld, weight watchers or neither?
I’ve done slimmingworld in the past but not WW as it’s seems really confusing.

Neither! Both are businesses with a vested interest in keeping people fat.

The Fitness Chef is the guy you want to follow on sm, along with James Smith PT. No diets as such, just let you work out your calories and what deficit you need to lose weight then maintain it.

It’s great. I’ve lost Nearly a stone and a half since the start of January

The thing about ALL diets is they work by putting you into a calorie deficit. So your body uses more calories in energy than you give it via food, ths you lose weight. Regardless of Syns, Points etc its all the same in the end.

The problem with SW is the free food which they say you can eat in unlimited quantities as if they have zero calorific value. This is wrong and can affect weightloss and therefore morale / confidence in the diet. WW is better in this regard.

Is it that you feel the need to be weighed by someone else each week or you won't stick to it? Then WW is probably best of the two. However if you can weigh yourself, save the expense and tedious meetings and download Nutricentre app and calorie count instead. You can work out how many calories you should eat to be in a deficit by using a TDEE calculator like this one tdeecalculator.net/. It will tell you how many calories you need to eat to maintain your current weight. You then take 500 off to get your calorie deficit number. As long as you eat that number and count everything that you eat you will lose weight. Its labour intensive at first, but with Nutricentre you scan bar codes etc and its quite easy. Plus everyone tends to eat the same foods again and again so it gets a whole lot easier as you go on.

Neither. They're both cons. They work for the minority but in general people will lose weight and put it back on so they return, it's a marketing ploy. Or not lose weight at all.

Eat less (junk) and move more- gradually. Slow sustainable weight loss is about lifestyle changes and not fad diets.

James Smith Academy free calculator is good: works out your calorie limit and protein goal according to your height, weight, activity level, and goal

Viviennemary · 23/03/2022 15:57

Neither. Slimming world gives me indigestion. On WW I was starving

CornishGem1975 · 23/03/2022 15:59

Neither. Just create a calorie deficit and you will lose weight. I lost 2 stone that way, slowly, over the course of a year and it's been a lot easier to keep it off.
