what does the packs contist of and how do they taste?

mrspink27 · 06/03/2008 16:54

They taste ok, am sure I'll encounter flavours which I wont like the taste of, the soups are chicken, mushroom, vegetable or thai chilli. The shakes are choc, vanilla, caramel, raspberry, banana, strawberry. Then there are bars also... havent got to those yet.

You have 4 packs (soups/shakes/bars after day 3) and each one contains 25% of all your required nutrients for the day.

They are not delicious but they are fine and ultimately, it is a means to an end.

Lennygrrl - unfortunately, LL as with all diets have people who regain their start weight and many exceed that and unfortunately. I generally find you only hear the statistics of how rubbish diets are as people regain. I know plenty of people who have done LL and have kept it off years later.

But ultimately, it is all down to the individual to work at what they have achieved.

One person I know lost 14.5 stone 4 years ago and still weighs the same as when she finished.

The critical thing is ensuring you follow the entire program religiously and also that you accept you HAVE to change significantly if you want to stay slim.

You cannot lose the weight and then return to your original habits - you got fat the first time and you will again.

YOu have to allow LL to re-educate you so that you live and eat and drink like slim people do.

If you've put the weight on before, it'll easily go on again.

LL isn't about the 100 days you abstain and the 12 weeks of reintroducing food. It is about adapting your habits for the rest of your life so that you are able to maintain what you have achieved.

I went to info session last week friend has lost 6 stone in six months I have 4 to loose my class doesnt start till 18th but I have decided to do slimfast from now till then to gte me in the mood...things that worried me...the 2 hrs councelling what on earth can you talk about for 2 hours every week...also concerned that the councelling bit will be emotional worried about being open wiyh a group of people I dont know...how personal does it get??...wish it was 1to1

aznerak · 11/03/2008 07:08

Hi there knakered

Good for you - I wouldn't bother about doing slimfast until you start as those 100 days are pretty tough on you but SO worth it.

Just carry on as normal until you start, but cut out carbs so you don't get a carb withdrawal problem during your first few days on LL.

As far as the counselling goes - I was a bit worried about the same issues as you, but now, having done it, I found the 2 hour sessions EXCELLENT.

obviously, it depends on your group, but you will all be women and all have a weight problem. You will be different ages and from diffferent walks of life, but that actually helps.

The first 30 mins or so is just the weigh ins (which is done one to one) and the rest of you just chat - this is brill as you can talk about how you are coping, etc.

Then, you watch a cheesey LL DVD - tailored to where you are on the programme. It is quite annoying but you do learn stuff. Then, for the remaining 50 minutes, you work as a group with your counsellor, using your foundation book to go through what you heard about in the DVD.

The time flies by and yes, it can get emotional but everyone is UNBELIEVABLY SUPPORTIVE. Often, you don't realise things about yourself until someone else says it themself and then you think - blimey, thats what I do/did/think/etc and all of these contributions help you change your way of thinking and that is what is key to keeping the weight off.

You can do one to one via Cambridge but I know lots of people who have done both and although LL costs more, you are paying for this 2 hour group counselling.

It will all depend on how your group bond but after week 3, it is a closed group so noone can join. It is always single sex.

Our group bonded amazingly - we had a laugh, there were tears but noone dropped out, we supported each other all the way and I have made some lifelong friends out of it.
