Advice needed - losing weight to try for a baby

So partner and I have discussed trying for a baby, the time feels right. I'm nearly 29 however very overweight, currently size 22. I've always been heavier than most but ususally sat comfortably around a 16/18 but with lockdown taking its toll the weight just creeped up and up. I want to lose weight and get fit so that I'll be healthy for a pregnancy. Only thing is I'm a really fussy eater so struggle with certain diets. Does anyone have any advice of diets for fussy eaters or exercises I should be doing?

What do you mean by fussy, specifically? So what do you and don’t you eat, perhaps that will help people be able to give advice. One person’s fussy might be peas and sweetcorn are their only veg. Others will say no meat or fish, so we need more details.

Maybe give an idea of what you eat in a typical day. I’d suggest the My Fitness Pal app to log everything you eat and drink, to get an idea of how many calories you’re eating, and it will suggest how many to reduce it to, in order to lose weight.

Exercise is only a small part of losing weight, but of course very good for your body (and mind!). Again, what exercise do you do now, if any? Start by going for a brisk walk every day for 20 minutes, and build up.

I think you need to look at the source of weight gain and do a deep analysis on what you're eating. There aren't quick fixes to being healthy it's about creating something sustainable for pregnancy and post birth

Echo the others, what do you mean by fussy? Is it a real aversion or is it just you prefer certain foods?
