Not too far off three stone overweight.
I could really use some advice as to how to shift the first stone at least.
I can do intermittent fasting no problem and can also do without white carbs if needed so what do you think would suit me to lose this excess please.
I'm nearly 50, on HRT for past few months, metabolism is dire, I haven't had time to exercise but I can from now on as I'm just going to prioritise myself. I hate gyms and pools, love walking and cycling. I'm
a proportioned size 14 but my belly is slowly building 🙈
Please help me!
My mental health hasnt been good lately so I've found that I'm drinking too much alcohol and mindlessly eating anything and everything which is very unlike me.
I've started counselling so feel a pep in my step and the weather is getting better and evenings longer.
Please help me. Thank you .

I am in a similar situation - have just started a version of low carbing today! I am cutting out sweet things and no more than a handful of wholemeal carbs per day (a literal handful), as bread and sweet things are my absolute achilles heel. I often do a 24 hr fast, but it's not enough to stop my poor lifestyle choices making me gain weight. I had done it a few years back for over a year and felt great, but fell off the wagon following a bereavement.

I'm going to do Yoga with Adriene's Move challenge that I did in January and pick up my couch 2 5k again, but I know that exercise never shifts the weight for me.

I do think it's different trying to lose weight when menopausal or peri-menopausal and I don't think any of the calories counters or weight loss gurus take that into account. Like healthcare, the fitness industry is based round a male body and stable hormones.
I have to count and eat less calories, and do yoga every day if I want to lose weight. Exercise alone isn't enough for me and cardio exercise (eg running/walking) makes no difference to my weight at all.

I'm trying intermittent fasting and gave in earlier. All I had in the house that I could eat straight away was bread or ham. I was ravenous. I signed up for a dance class that starts next
Month so this month is about increasing fitness through walking. I had theee slices of ham for breakfast Blushit's not going to be easy !!

I'm 54 and 5'6 and have lost 2 stones in the last year and am now 11st. I cut out processed carbs, watched portion size, low carb breakfast and lunch, lots of veg, still drank wine. I avoided very high calorie foods for the first 6 months - including things like avocado and humous. But basically my diet didn't change that much, and I was enjoying what I ate, and the lower carb / no white carb did stop cravings. Previously I just accepted weight gain came with age, I didn't realise you can just do this. And if I can, you can.

Just to add, I have been walking a bit but the weight loss has been through diet change, I did try exercise about 10 years back and it had little impact on weight. Basically I realised that a big portion of something like basmati and veg curry for dinner, whilst not very unhealthy, was still a huge carb and therefore calorie hit. I also adapted some recipes, eg fish pie made without using butter or cottage cheese instead of cheddar cheese in a baked potato. Somehow these small changes added up.

Great successes! I definitely don't want to give up my wine nights !

Ive lost a stone intermittent fasting and doing 800Keto 4 days a week (with low carb Mediterranean on the other days). Started at 14 stone 7, now 13 7.

I walk lots and do some free weights at home ( 20 mins 4 times a week) and have lost 3 inches of my waistline. dropped from an 18 to a 14/16.
