Would you rather do two hours in gym which you don’t mind, or hitt

I don’t mind the gym too much I do treadmill
And crosstrainer bikes stepper
Do about hour and half to two hours then a swim steam shower
Obv this takes up a lot of time and dh suggesting o should be doing hitt instead

I usually zone out in the gym and watch YouTube when I’m
On the treadmill etc

If you have a gym with a sauna then they’re probably also do classes? I would join some hitt or weights classes at your gym then finish with a sauna/steam room. Best of both worlds. If you’re zoning out watching YouTube your probably not in the best workout zone! Maybe 2022 is your year to change it up! Would it be lovely to do a really effective workout for 45 mins, get the steam room in and then still have 30 mins to sit down and have a coffee and watch the YouTube then?

@nancybotwinbloom

I go to rave fit and clubbersize. Burns about 600-700 calories in 45 mins.

We have glo sticks. I love it.

You must be really going for it! Clubbercise burns 420 for me.

I would rather do HIIT more fun.

I like weights too but couldn't bring myself to spend 2 hours in the gym doing cardio. It's so boring (to me).

I can happily walk the dog for that long though.

CovidCurious · 22/02/2022 17:50

You ought to be getting some higher intensity exercise in if you are just doing steady state on the cardio machines. But no reason at all why you can't just do a few high speed intervals yourself rather than joining a class.

NinjaQueen · 22/02/2022 17:57

Those questioning the calorie burn of others.... when I was larger and less fit I was regularly burning 600 - 700 cals in an hour session, as I got fitter and weigh less the same class burns maybe 350.

Everyone is different.

@redbigbananafeet

Probably because I end up doing double. One move I think is right then really fast moves doing the actual right move I have no co ordination when I am there! I'm terrible at it but it's fun. And in the dark. Grin

And I'm a bit fatter than I should be.

What I actaully enjoy is peer walking. Around shops 🙊🙊🙊and outside in the fresh air

Scooting skiing
And roller skating

Actual HIIT is hard. Most people who say they're doing HIIT aren't really. Especially if say they're doing it for more than about 20 mins. (Really? With a heart rate monitor? If so....well, I'm impressed). I would never say that actual HIIT is fun. I might get a high afterwards, but tbh actual HIIT is pretty brutal as far as I'm concerned. Its effective and time efficient if done properly, but it carries a high rate of injury. If I had time to totally replace it for steady-state cardio I would. The only reason I do it is time efficiency.
