Sooo...the vagus nerve...

I've been looking at things about the vagus nerve and wondering if anyone here has used any kind of process involving this nerve.
I remember reading something about being cold - wearing some kind of vest with ice packs in the back (though I've never seen one) and this evening I read about a programme of people who had experimental injections to 'freeze the vagus nerve' and wondered if there was any sort of link there.
They also recommend stomach breathing to stimulate the nerve to help with anxiety and depression.
Full disclosure - I'm interested but know an infinitesimally small amount so far but I would like to know if anyone has encountered, experienced or used anything involving the vagus nerve for weight loss.....and how did it work out for you??

Oh god, @EmmaH2022! Not an academic article! LOL
I was asking in case anyone had had any personal experience of using vagus nerve stimulation, or whatever the opposite of that is, to help with their weight loss.
There's a lot of info out there including several books on Audible, but I haven't found anything specific to using it to target weight issues.
There's a bit about using it to help with sleep, which then goes into leptin and ghrelin and how they work with appetite, but it's pretty new and very alien to me. I just fancied a non-drug, non-surgical attempt at improving my health and diet (diet as in food choices rather than WW/SW type stuff) with some weight loss thrown in Smile

Well, now I might have to read the article I linked for you Grin

I have terrible insomnia too.

Though I also had that when I was thin....

You know you want to read it and precis it for your fellows in weight loss.

G'wan g'wan g'wan g'wan.

I would have thought it very dangerous to stimulate/mess with the vagus nerve. One of the treatments for tachycardia is stroking the vagus.

There are yoga poses that do this though. I know what you mean but if it was dangerous to go near, we'd all be having issues all the time.

good sleep 7 hours plus is optimal for just about every process in the body.
if you are tired the body craves carbs and fats, sort out your sleep and everything else follows, plus dry body brushing to gee up the lymphatic system.
