Well, I've started today with a weetabix for breakfast, I never normally eat breakfast and just about to eat a ham salad for lunch in a mo, no idea yet what I'm going to have for dinner but so far so good.

Going to make the time to go for my 1 hour walk even if it is cold and raining

I think my main problem is I don't really overeat in general terms I just eat too much of the wrong thing (biscuits, chocolate) tbh I hate eating and go most days without eating anything proper till late in the evening but by then I feel weak and so hungry munch my way through a whole pack of biscuits or large bar of chocolate. I need to get more organised with my meals and eat properly. The biscuits and chocolate are out and fruit snacks in.

I work from home so having regular proper meals shouldn't be a problem but I seem to get so involved in what I'm doing I don't think to eat and will just grab a handful of biscuits while making a cuppa.

3 stone - starting this evening

fedda · 02/01/2008 14:25

When I have my cappa I simply have to have something with it so I have grapes, nuts, raisins, dry appricots or corn flakes without milk but sometimes i just want biscuits, especcially when they are so nice. Anyway, I just have to be stronger.

Okay me too i'm gatecrashing and joining you ladies!!!

I'm Becs, 25 and mummy to my gorgeous daughter who is 4 next week!

My vices are wine and cheese! Along with choccy - and greasy canteen food at work when i forget to take my own lunch/tea! P
Plus due to shifts, i eat at the wrong times or skip meals and eat when i come in late at night!!!

So i'm starting today! Currently a size 18 (16 in some things) i'd like to do a size at a time for my goal!

I recently won £250 which will be paid in my next pay packet as Employee Star of the quarter at work and dp will match it for the first dress size i lose

Today i have eaten :

Brekkie: 2 Slices of Melon, tangerine and Raspberry Mullerlight

Lunch: 2 slices of 50/50 with cheese, cucmber, lettuce and light salad cream (had no wholemeal bread in which i prefer!)

Dinner Homemade Spag bol with wholemeal Spaghetti

I did take dd to the cinma this afternnon and had coke zero with 10 maltesers....

Okay so improvements - should of had egg, tuna or ham etc etc in sarnie - and shouldn't of touched the maltesers [hmmm] - but i did walk all the way through Morrisons without going to the WINE

Shiraz · 02/01/2008 16:47

I usually find that a meal planner is a great idea.

Get lots of variety into your diet - so you are not 'stuck' on some days feeling like all you've got to eat is 'rabbit food'

Experiment and try things others mention on here!

fedda · 02/01/2008 17:59

i hope 1 lamb chop with new potatoes and peas is okay for dinner. i have to say I don't cut the fat off. I was in Starbaks and I had toffee nut latte without cream but still, sugary, with 2 pistashio bars. I didn't have breakfast as I got up at 11 (yes, i was really soooo tired) so i had branch - 5 fish fingers and tea with jam.

Shiraz · 03/01/2008 09:58

Fedda did you just say you had fish fingers with jam?????

I must admit that i absolutley love Pork Crackling - but i notice such a difference in weightloss by removing all fat! Okay so it's not as tasty BUT i've got to be serious this time!!!!

Just started my day an hour ago with Special K Cream n Berries and a cuppa.

Have takena ham joint out for Dinner this evening, which we'll have with veggies.

Not sure about lunch yet...

Shiraz · 03/01/2008 16:10
  • How have i done this?? I forgot to put the ham joint in the oven - so there is no chance it will be ready for Dinner this evening!

I had one slice of toast, 2 slices of bacon (fat and rind removed) and a semi soft boiled egg for lunch followed by green tea.

Not sure what we'll be having for tea this evening now though..... IDIOT

fedda · 03/01/2008 17:18

How di it go for you, shiraz?
I didn't have fishfingers with jam, I simply put some jam in my tea to sweeten and flavour it - I use jam sweetened with grape juice to reduce sugar. Some of my friends can faint seeing me having jam in my tea so i now do it very descritely - when no one is watching.

Shiraz · 06/01/2008 10:24

Pmsl - gosh fedda i thought that was a strange combination!!! Sorry!

First few days went brilliant for me! But then on Friday dp put pizzas in the oven and i had wine .

So i'm refocused and re-starting today....

Weegle · 07/01/2008 07:39

Hello again everyone, how's everyone doing?

Well after a wobbly start I'm starting properly today as it's the first normal week post xmas where my weekly routine should be normal. But we're all ill! I have a stinking cold and my poor DS seems to have picked up a really nasty flu-like bug and is struggling so I feel like reaching for the chocolate - fortunately there is none in the house! And I already feel like I can't start my (albeit v gentle) exercise goals because I feel so rough.

And I have DH's bday meal out on Saturday so that'll be a test of will power. Does anyone else find it hard to focus with the DC's in tow? I think that's what's happened - I've ended up grabbing whatever and indulging in too many biscuits and cakes when out and about and stopping off to buy a choccie bar to "reward" myself when he goes to bed.

fedda · 07/01/2008 22:23

Shiraz, if on TV they show the recipy of beef steak coated in grinded coffee beans or you find ham cooked in coca cola, why can't I have apricote flavour tea? You can get raspberry flavour tea and I much prefer raspberry jam put in my tea - just 1,5 spoons - it tastes lovely, the only problem is it doesn't help me slim. Taste wise i love it.

floaty · 08/01/2008 13:46

I've also got abot 3 stone to lose and have decided that this is it ,2008 is going to be the year ,i have already declared my office a "biscuit free zone" a s thats my main downfall along with the glass of wine in the evenings!

Niecie · 08/01/2008 13:51

Is it too late to joing in as well? I need to lose at least 5 stone, maybe 6 but 1 would do. Any change at all in the right direction would help!

I have the Paul McKenna books as well. They made good sense but I found I am irritated by his voice on the CD so not sure what to do about that.

fedda · 08/01/2008 23:33

I don't think it's too late to join, the more the better as all ideas are so important. it's a great inspiration talking to everyone here.

Niecie · 09/01/2008 11:12

Thanks fedda. Don't know where to start really. I know what I ought to do but staying motivated is proving difficult. I don't want to do anything that involves counting calories/points/sins or whatever. I would rather be changing my way of eating rather than going on a diet. I have never been on one before (can't you tell - 5 stone to lose!) and don't really want to do one now but something has to change.

So I shall start today.

fedda · 09/01/2008 17:47

Would you like to join me for home made veg soups for dinner and salads with mail meals, snacks on fruit, veg or unsalted nuts?

Niecie · 09/01/2008 17:55

Sounds like the way to go! What type of salads do you mean? Are you going low carb or low fat or just aiming for sensible.

It is about getting through the pain barrier in a way, isn't it. I read about all these people who live on take aways and chocolate and how now they have changed their lifestyles they don't actually like these things any more and I think to myself I would love to be like that but the transistion is so hard. I suppose it is a sort of addiction and you have to go cold turkey. I don't relish the idea.

I seem to have lost the taste for anything healthy. I used to eat 5 portions of fruit and veg no problem but now I struggle and often I just don't fancy it.

Maybe I think too much. I am putting myself off before I even start!

fedda · 09/01/2008 19:41

I know how you feel and i can't give up all the things I like. I don't follow any particular system as at some point if i try to follow the diets, I start rebelling. My idea is to try to eat healthy, home made nutricious meals and walk as rxcersise.
