Nutracheck or myfitnesspal?

Which is best for helping to lose weight? Or any other alternatives?

My Fitness Pal helped me lose over 3 stone, and keep it off. I haven’t used the others.

Work out your tdee then reduce it by 20% to get a calorie target to aim for for weight loss. I think the MFP one is far too low to begin with and unsustainable. You need to re enter and work out your tdee and adjust calories as you go along as the figures will aim as you lose weight.

Nutracheck has a monthly cost, but they input all the foods centrally so I’ve heard it’s more accurate than MFP where anyone can add ingredients. I’m tight though so I still use MFP 😂

I like My Fitness Pal because it’s free. To start with, it is worth actually measuring and weighing out the foods you typically eat. The first time I had a roast dinner I felt silly but put my empty plate on the scales and every time I added, say roast potatoes, I quickly wrote down the weight and after diner sat and inputted it all. It was surprising calorie wise, and you have to make sure you include everything, so for all my meals, I include the tomato sauce, or gravy or whatever. Otherwise I think it’s too easy to just let things slip and it all adds up. I have milk and sugar or honey in coffee, and obviously that’s very different to just a black coffee, so you have to be disciplined logging it.

Having used both, nutracheck is much better. User friendly, no margin for error, and has loaaaaaads of foods, restaurants and takeout info listed

Personally much prefer Nutracheck. Worth the £3.99 a month for me, though they often have sales where you can pay something like £24 for the year (so half price). I'd rather spend the money on the app than on something to expand my waistline!

Love Nutracheck. I left it to try out the new WW but have just cancelled WW and will be going back to Nutracheck in the next hour!

Nutracheck I paid £23 for the year. It's British so a lot more accurate than MFP, it also has good recipes and a lively Facebook group that's helped me loads.

The nhs has a free weightloss app. 12 weeks programme

Nutracheck is brilliant. It's set up for UK weights and measures and supermarkets, and has photos of the items so it's really easy to find things. They are also super helpful if you have any questions.

I lost a stone last year using it.

Admittedly fell off the wagon when I developed an injury and couldn't go out for walks and started comfort eating, but if you can stick to calorie counting and daily walks, then I'd recommend Nutracheck over MFP.

Nutricheck is much better IMO. Really well designed app with a huge database. Clear visuals and easy to use.

I have used both and have Nutracheck now, I love it. It's so much more user friendly and accurate and it logs lots of other stuff around your progress etc. too. It also has an eating out section covering loads of chain places such as Costa and Pizza Express as well as even cinema food, plus a takeaway section. Also adding recipes to it is much more simple. I paid for the year in advance so yes it's not free but the price is lower than a slimming club was my reckoning.

As someone else said, do weigh rather than estimate as you'll be surprised and the extra few calories here and there can easily add up to a meals worth over a whole day! I log 200mls of milk for example, for my cuppas throughout the day.
