Hello

First time here!!

I have been on and off diets such as Slimming World and Weight Watchers for years but never find these plans sustainable so don’t want to do these ones again.
This year I am determined to make lots of positive changes in my life including losing some weight. I want to do this a healthy/balanced approach, maybe more like calorie counting etc. Can anyone recommend any good plans, apps, facebook/insta pages/groups to follow to help me. Any help and advice most welcome Smile

Thanks x

I've had great success with this way of eating:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weight_loss_chat/4452191-Why-We-Eat-Too-Much-Thread-5

Not a diet as such but a healthy way of choosing and preparing food.

I'd also add, as a yo-yo dieter, the book really changed my way of thinking about my weight and dieting and is worth a read even if the way of eating isn't ultimately for you @awilson90

Another option that might work for you is low carb/high fat. There's a bootcamp starting here shortly:

I've lost weight low-carbing in the past but personally prefer the Jenkinson way of eating as it's less restrictive. Since you are shopping round for ideas I thought it worth mentioning!

i bought 2 years ago "The Paleo Cookbook:300 Delicious Paleo Diet Recipes." There are some very useful recipes.

Do an experiment with low carb, it'll take you 3 days:

Day 1: eat a carby dinner, and snacks in the evening if you usually do
Day 2: Rate how hungry you are for breakfast. At dinner, eat no carbs at all, and no evening snacking
Day 3: Rate how hungry you are for breakfast.

It's likely that this will demonstrate to you how a low carb diet affects craving food. It may inspire you to investigate further...

I'm a yo-yo dieter too, what mostly works for me is calorie counting, I use www.fatsecret.com/calories-nutrition/ (both the website and the app) for that. they have the best products base so far.

I take everyday measurements and go on scales twice a month to see if I have lost something or at least do maintain my current weight and take pictures to see the progress.

I have motiovational pics like this on my lockscreen (silly but I see it quite often and it's already engraved in my mind!) and I used a body editor to make myself thinner in photos and print them out to have everywhere as additional motivation. I also try to keep healthy or less sugary snacks at home and never go shopping when hungry.

My fitness pal app.
Taking time out of each hour to do some brisk steps. Even 10 minutes every hour adds up over the day.
Swap out carb heavy foods for non carb heavy foods.
Keep your protein up. It keeps us feeling full.
Drink water.
