Hello, a year or so a go I did a thread like this and found it very very useful as it really helped me become accountable, and some lovely people joined in too! We kept it going for I think maybe 6 months?! By that time I’d lost everything I wanted to lose and was happy in maintenance at 8st 10 so I stopped posting! Since then I’ve been enjoying my food and maintaining fairly well, and absolutely no binges/emotional eating for I think a year? Which feels amazing as I was always a yoyo dieter and in a binge/restrict cycle and I do feel like that finally not part of my life anymore! (Has been achieved through not being too restrictive, really enjoying everything I ate so not feeling like I was on a diet at all, creating a small calorie deficit and doing 15000-20000 steps a day) although december and christmas has included a lot more biscuits for breakfast etc and I’m not feeling brilliantly healthy! I haven’t weighed myself but still feeling fine in my skin and even though I haven’t tracked calories for about 7 months I’m pretty sure I’ve been in quite a big surplus, maybe eating 3000-4000 cals a day? I’ve also noticed my fingers and hands sometimes go numb/tingly so I might try and reduce sugar a bit.. I’m also going to try intermittent fasting eating 12-8 this week but when I’m back at work next week I may have to change that! Anyway very very sorry for the rambly journal like entry haha, would be great to have people join me! In my last thread I used to get a lot of people very surprised by how much I ate and confused how I was losing weight- so just wanted to say everybody’s different- I am very active and do a lot of walking my dog (min 1hr a day but normally more like 2), don’t have children yet, in my late 20s, I sometimes go running too although haven’t done so for a while so going to try get back to that, but according to my fitbit I normally burn between 2400-3000 calories a day, (less If I’ve just been for 1 hour) so I try to eat at 250-500 calorie deficit meaning I can lose weight on 1900-2750 cals a day depending on the deficit I feel like doing and the calories burnt that day. Some days I am not in a deficit but as long as there is a deficit over the week the scales week go down ! I also did used to have an ED so found some of the comments like ‘oh that is so much food how on earth are you losing weight on that’ a bit hard! So please remember everyone is different and no one should compare themselves, we just used to use this thread as a way to keep ourselves accountable and inspire another with nice reasonably healthy food 😊 so yes, please join if you fancy it!!

This is a really interesting idea! I've just seen the thread now but would like to post as well and will do photos tomorrow.

Today I had
-croissant
-cupt of tinned soup with half a slice of toast
-2 hotdog frankfurters in one brioche roll
-slice of cheesecake
-beetroot and feta salad with sliced ham

Writing it down like that makes me think... um..... did I really eat that? Most of it was mindless eating!

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 07/01/2022 09:40

Yesterday I had:

Breakfast: cherry jam on toast
Lunch: leftover halloumi masala and brown rice
Afternoon snack: banana

Second afternoon snack: homemade cherry icecream with banana
Third afternoon snack: homemade mocca icecream (can you guess who got a swanky new icecream maker for Christmas?)
Dinner: taco salad with possible too many tortilla chips and definitely too many jalepenos.

Hi everyone! Hope you’re all doing well!! Mumsnet wouldnt let me log in for a few days so I stopped doing this and my eating has been pretty bad! Not been tracking and I find it so hard to stick to no snacking when back at work and also I lost my fitbit charger but on it again today!! Also weighed myself and tiday I’m 9st 8.2 which I think is the heaviest I’ve been in 2 years. However strangely I don’t feel I look fat anymore likei used to feel at this weight so maybe Something in my head has actually changed since I sorted out my relationship with food/stopped the binges! V interesting! However still want to lose some weight haha, sort out my sugar intake which is definitely completely out of hand!! but yes I guess it’s a lesson to actually work on liking yourself rather than thinking ‘I’ll be happy and look great when I lose weight!’
Anyway, Breakfast- white chocolate mocha with oat milk (86 cals)

Dinner- half a pizza (I finished late so asked bf to cook it for dinner and leave me half cold, then I fried it in 1/2 teaspoon olive oil and oooo it was delicious!! Went all crispy!)
Snack- decaff oat latte and strawberries

Have decided strawberries are the key to my snacking issue 😅 Super happy to be in a 500 cal deficit - eaten 2125 cals and burnt about 2650 cals.. still very hungry haha but think I’ve just been used to eating loads for a while!

@Friedbanana your food looks great. Dumb question but how do you burn so many (2650) calories?

Friedbanana · 20/01/2022 12:11

@TwinkleToesStrikesAgain I’m sure it’s not 100% accurate and probably overestimates quite a bit but it’s just from my fitbit - I did 2 x hour dog walks so that tracked as 710 exercise calories (I walk quite fast I think) then my base calorie burn if I was in a coma is 1337 cals and then the extra 600 cals is I guess from steps I do at work/in the house, so they don’t track as exercise calories as they’re just short bursts! I read somewhere that often people with ‘high metabolisms’ are just constantly moving/fidgeting so they burn more calories through the day while not doing any particular exercise! Like my (very very slim) friend is a nurse and her fitbit often tells her she’s burnt 3000cals on her 12 hour shifts just from walking around the ward ! Unlike me though she finds it hard to eat that many calories hence why she’s so slim!

Decided to try a lower calorie day today, I will be eating a lot over the weekend so thought it wouldn’t hurt to have a big deficit today.. I’ve had a nutritional super noodle thing, a protein hot chocolate and some strawberries and an almond milk latte.. about 720 cals eaten and 2900 cals burnt as I did a lot of walking, weirdly I’m not as hungry before bed as I have been the past few days.. gonna try have a protein hot chocolate every night before bed as maybe that’s the reason!
