Gastric weight loss surgery -any regrets?

Has anyone had weight loss surgery and regretted it? I'm not keen on it really

I've a lot of weight to loose AGAIN. And I'm wondering if long term this is really the solution. Do you really keep the weight off for ever? Is it reversible?

I have IBS and a cystocele and rectocele so keep fit choices are really limited.

There's an AMA on gastric bands, if that's the kind of surgery you are meaning?

I was like you but then I read the statistics only one in 750 people when they reach a certain BMi think it's 35 are able to lose the weight and not regain it . I knew I wouldn't be the 1 in 750 so my mind was set.

I had a gastric sleeve 3 months ago , I did regret it at first the initial post op is tough , but I'm 3.5 stone down , feel much healthier it is possible to regain you do have to be mindful of how much you're eating I eat off a tiny side plate but I don't have much of an appetite anymore which is a life saver as I always felt hungry before.
It's a freeing feeling wish I would have got it done years ago.

My IBS is cured after surgery I no longer have the runs, cramps or horrible farts probably one of the best bits about surgery.

And no a sleeve isn't reversible neither is a bypass really they don't like to reverse them unless 100 percent necessary. But if you don't want to regain all the weight you need something permanent 🤣

@Veeveeoxox thank you. I'm 50 so wondering if there are consequences to having/not having it on old age.

I also take quite a lot of pills like cod liver oil and vitamins is that still possible?

I'm 6 days out from a mini gastric bypass and gallbladder removal and definitely not regretting it. I had my op about 12.30 Wed and was back on the ward at 3.30pm and pretty much snoozed the rest of the day and night away. I came home Friday and was ill Saturday being sick but the team had a 24 hour helpline I called and they advised to go back to clear fluids for 24 hours and am fine now. I put myself 3 tablespoons of soup and only manage about 2 tablespoons worth.

I have a stitch like pain in my left side but am managing it with a heat pad in the day time and take one codeine tablet at night. I was sent home with plenty of pain relief but the pain has been nowhere near as bad as when my gallbladder would play up even the wind pain for me has been more uncomfortable than painful and walking round helps.

I lost 5 stone last year thru diet and exercise but still had another 7 to lose. I ended up regaining the 5 stone so am glad I've had the op and feeling positive going forward

I'm 28 but there's plenty of ladies on the groups I'm in on Facebook who have it in their 50/60s who are very pleased with their results.

To begin with you are just on clear liquids for one week then you go on full liquids so meal replacements then pureed then soft then normal , I just got my vitamins from shakes to begin with I just take a multivitamin now and iron , I had no problems swallowing pills from about week 4. I still took lansoprazole everyday from 1 week post surgery.
