Has anyone got a walking desk?

And if so has it helped? I struggle to fit in exercise and I'm hoping in desperation that if I'm stood up and walking slowly for a good portion of the day it's got to help the calorie deficit situation?

(Alongside eating better of course)

Didn't find it work for me, just get dizzy. I just try taking regular breaks and do stretching / hip rotations.

I have a very low aerobics steps and a standing height desk (actually a chest of drawers) in my office. It doesn’t work if I’m writing but if I’m listening to a meeting & watching screen I can step on and off which is decent moderate cardio

Also use the step when watching tv

It does work well to burn calories & keep me active- v cheap vs a walking desk & I doubt I could actually type/use excel etc when walking. Also very compact vs a treadmill

I’ve seen cycling desks too - they look good

I really want one - the reviews suggest hacking a normal cheap treadmill won’t work but we have one or these so I was thinking of giving it a try

Just standing on its own had huge health benefits, never mind the extra exercise options! I have a standing desk (and a bar stool to perch on if needed) and sometimes use a wobble board. I'm thinking of getting a stepper rather than a treadmill simply because of cost and space considerations. If I don't like it that's a lot of money spent...

I have a standing desk - what wobble board do you have?

Fitness Direct Wooden Wobble Balance Board

I've had a simple treadmill at the kitchen table (where I work from) and a raised desk platform on top for 3 weeks now and am loving it! Easily achieving 12000 steps a day without even thinking about it- I'm so surprised how straightforward it has been. Like @TalkToTheHand123 said, I was a bit dizzy when I got off for the first two days but its fine now- and I slide it under the table when not in use (chairs stick out a bit but as table is in the corner it's manageable.)

Treadmill was £106 and desk platform £45, both new from a "shop" on ebay rather than second hand (i couldn't find any cheaper!) I'm really pleased!
