Dry, horrible, furry mouth

I'm 4 days into a healthy eating plan after I got fed up of being out of puff going up the stairs.
I would normally binge on takeaways or eat high sugar and processed foods, I've cut these out completely.
Yesterday, I felt like a truck had hit me.. Every bone and muscle in my body ached.
Today I've had a dry, furry mouth.. No amount of water or mouth wash can satisfy.
Could this be as a result of not binging and not satisfying my body with the usual crap and effectively the toxins coming to the surface? I don't believe in the holistic mumbo jumbo, but I genuinely feel this could be it?

it will take more than 4 days to get any 'toxins' out of your system op. you probably just haven't brushed your teeth properly.

My oral hygiene is exceptional. 37 years and have never had any oral problems. My teeth are brushed very well thank you and I rigorously brush my tongue, floss and mouth wash, so no i don't think it's that.
How insulting to think an adult of 37 years can't brush their own teeth properly.

What have you actually eaten over the last 4 days....what did you have today as an example?

HollowTalk · 16/12/2021 00:19

Are you doing low-carb? I find the same thing happens when I do that.

Jeanlope · 16/12/2021 00:28

Yes low carb, but still having some carbs.
This morning I had a meal replacement shake, mid morning i had a cup of tea and a banana. Lunch I had scrambled eggs on wholemeal toast. Afternoon, had another cup of tea and some fruit later on. Dinner I had a veggie burger and salad.
I've never eaten breakfast as I can't stomach. My diet was previously terrible due to working shifts and binge eating and eating lots of take aways and processed food laden with salt, wondering it its the lack of salt my taste buds are rejecting.

OP, biotene mouthwash is great for dry mouth

Halloaten · 21/12/2021 23:50

Yes this is absolutely a thing. Nothing to do with not brushing your teeth

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 21/12/2021 23:52

How much water are you drinking? You need about 2lts a day, it really does help a lot with the fatigue and sugar cravings as well as the hunger that you may feel as a result of reducing carbs.

BIWI · 21/12/2021 23:55

Sorry - but that isn't a low carb diet! It does, though, sound like it's a lower carb diet compared with what you were eating before. Constant thirst, as well as body aches, does suggest that your electrolytes are out of balance and so you need sodium, magnesium and potassium.

Drink lots of water, but also make sure you're using salt on/in your food. Magnesium and potassium you can get from salmon, avocado, spinach and full fat yoghurt. Or try a supplement like Zero from High5.
