One meal a day

Does anyone do this? Pros and cons?

Life is busy with 2 little dc and I used to do well with 5:2. When I overeat I feel rubbish , underlying conditions play up etc. So I am now considering one meal a day with plenty water / herbal teas to keep me going! This would take all the stress away from trying to calorie count and just generally thinking about meals.

I'm the biggest I've been and carry most weight around my middle. I'm 5"3 and probably over 10 stone now.

I wouldn't do it. You need to eat regularly throughout the day.
1 meal a day will just mean you'll be extra hungry.

Eat with the children, little and often.

I'm similar and to be in a healthy bmi I only get to eat enough calories for just over one meal a day anyway!
One actual (but not massive) meal plus a decent snack or two to keep you going (veg and dip, an egg, handful of nuts, cheese on crackers etc, not a sweet snack) is more realistic than literally just one meal.

Look up Jason Fung, he gives good advice on OMAD (www.dietdoctor.com or youtube).

I like to fast and have a short eating window of 2-4 hours. You need to ensure you are getting all your macros in your one meal if you are going to do it. Many make the mistake of having too few calories each day, go for 1-200cal below maintenance level, slower losses but more sustainable. Herbal tees may break a fast, green tea, normal tea without milk, black coffee or plain water. Don't forget your multivitamins too.
