Hi all,

I had my first baby three months ago and I'm wanting to shift some of my baby weight.

Currently 13 stone and feeling pretty down with myself.
I'm hoping to drop 2/3 stone.

Any tips on weight loss?
Things that have/haven't worked for you?

I'm trying to eat healthier and take baby out for lots of walks in the pram, but sticking to it is sometimes easier said than done 🙈

Thank you ❤️

Logging food intake and weight is the only thing that has worked for me long term, to take and keep the weight off.

If you are prepared to log everything and weigh yourself every day you could do worse than get the MacroFactor app. It was developed with exercisers in mind, but the beauty of it is that you don't have to work out your calorie expenditure. You just input weight and what you eat every day and after a couple of weeks it has worked out your average expenditure. It will then provide a calorie (and protein/carb/fat) split depending on what goal you put into it. It won't nag you or put up big red flags if you disobey it, it will just quietly readjust, so it's up to you to behave yourself (or not) but I think it's really good and easy to use.

You get quite a short free trial so to get the most out of it I back filled a month of data so it got off to an accurate start. It was easy for me as I had kept that data anyway, and it was quick to input. Two weeks is plenty, though.

I swear by 16/8. You eat during an 8 hour window only. It can be any 8 hours you choose -12pm-8pm, 11am to 7pm or 8am to 4pm. Whatever suits you. I don't diet, I just eat what I want but I do eat sensibly. I've always enjoyed healthy, nutritious meals so I'm not going to gorge on junk food during those 8 hours. However, at the same time I'm not that strict. If I want to go out for a pizza and wine or eat a donut then I will. What I love about it is that you're not eating diet foods, you're not weighing food or counting calories. You're just eating sensibly. Obviously you do tend to eat fewer calories in 8 hours than 16 hours but to me it's changed my appetite completely. I'm now much more in tune with my body. I eat 2 large meals a day and a couple of snacks. I like hearty big portions. Today I had poached eggs on toast for brunch then toad in the hole with mash and veg for dinner. I snacked on fruit, a few nuts and 2 biscuits. I'm much less hungry eating this way than I was before (when I was eating 3 meals a day but trying to make sure everything is low calorie). I'm always satisfied now.

I agree with pp about logging food.

Weighing and logging food on My Fitness Pal kept me accountable and has helped me lose 3.5 stone. Even at target weight I still log so I continue to maintain the weight loss.

3 months post birth is still early days. If it took 9 months to go on you should expect it to, at least, take the same amount of time to come off!
Congratulations on your little one.
