No bread - not feeling hungry

Every so often I get cramps and bloating after eating loads of bread. I bloody love bread and toast and it features in most of my meals in some form.

Recently I got the cramps and bloating and I decided to cut bread out for a bit…I’m a picky eater, so it’s not easy. My diet has remained more or less the same, just without the 6/7 slices of bread a day. I’m a week in, and I’ve not felt hungry once! Why is this? Usually, I still get hungry eating all that bread, but without it (and not adding other stuff in), I’ve just not felt the urge to eat like before. I’m just curious I guess.

Yeast overgrowth in the gut from bread? Yeast desires to grow and feed itself but if you aren't feeding it then it's dying off.

It's also because simple carbohydrates cause blood sugar levels to elevate then crash - especially if you were eating white bread (or a "brown" but not actually wholegrain bread). Blood sugar dips cause feelings of hunger, but if you don't eat the white bread (or other processed carbohydrates like sugar, ordinary white pasta etc) your blood sugar levels don't rise, so don't crash down either.

That makes so much sense and is also a bit worrying, some of the words/language there correspond with the words/language I’d associate with type 2 diabetes, so maybe I’ve had a warning from my body that I should listen too.

Insulin spikes are pretty bad with a high carb diet and make hunger much worse. Eric Berg does some YouTube videos on the subject.
