Slimming World Recipes

I've put this message on the Recipes board as well, so do forgive me for repeating myself ...

My sister has done really well at Slimming World and has lost 3.5 stone. She still has a long way to go, but has reached a plateau and is bored - the kiss of death for diets. I thought that some new recipe ideas might give her a boost, get her interested in the diet again, and make a nice change for her.

So, would any of you nice ladies out there who are doing Slimming World girls let me have your favourite recipes, including the syn/points values please? I grovel really well ...

got a s.w recipy book on the sale board?

Arabica · 13/11/2004 21:23

Has your sister tried the SW website? They have lots of recipes. Apologies if she's already tried that.

WigWamBam · 13/11/2004 21:28

She hasn't got the internet, arabica, but if there are recipes there I'll have a look later. Thanks. I just don't want her to undo all the good she's done simply through boredom.

My favourite recipe is Quorn sausage and chips. Which isn't v original, so I'm sure she's had it already. Am also a big fan of shepherd's pie. It's syn free on Green days, and also on Original days if you make mash from carrot not potato.
You fry onions and lots of garlic in fry-light, add some chilli, then bung in a pack of Quorn mince, and let it gently cook together, adding the juice from a can of tomatoes and a little balsamic vinegar and soy sauce when it needs some moisture. When the quorn mince is thawed out nicely add the chopped up tomatoes and some more soya sauce to taste, then throw in some frozen veg, eg peas. Meanwhile, you've boiled some spuds and/or carrots. Mash them up together with some nat yoghurt or creme fraiche and lots of pepper. You could add in some v low fat cottage cheese--why not, it's syn free!
Put the quorn mince mixture in a casserole dish with the mash on top, let it bake for 30 mins or so in hot oven about gas 6 or 200.

I tried a new one the other day. Really quick and simple. Suitable for an original day. Really yummy and made tuna more interesting than it is with a salad. Does use up healthy extras unfortunately.
TUNA MELT.
Tin tuna,
1 slice of wholemeal bread (healthy B)
42g Low Fat cheddar or 3 mini light babybel (healthy A)
Toast bread (I prefer one side toasted)
put on tuna
grate cheese on top and grill until cheese melts.
I'm hungry now!

sparkler1 · 15/11/2004 20:50

anyone else know of some quick and easy ones?

WigWamBam · 16/11/2004 13:58

Thanks, Sparkler!

I only just joined but I made a veggie chilli which turned out really yummy

Spray fry light ... fry chopped onion and carrot (I used 2 big ones), add clove of crushed garlic
chuck in a tin of tomatoes, tin of canellini beans, tin of pinto beans ( I just happened to have these but am sure any beans would do), add a stick of celery
splash of worcestershire sauce, a lot of cumin (I use the caps and put in 2 .. probably about 2 tbsps), sprinkle on chilli to taste (I used about tsp)
Cover and simmer for probably 40 minutes

serve with rice (I love sainsbury's American long grain with wild rice)

free on green

Twiglett · 20/11/2004 14:52

oops I also added some tomato puree to that one

Also made a minestrone soup (free on Green too)

Chopped onion, 2 carrots, 3 sticks of celery, green (or red) pepper in pan
Add tin of tomatoes, crushed garlic, tbsp dried basil, half tbsp dried oregano, half tsp rosemary, bay leaf.
Add a couple of pints vegetable stock
cover and simmer for an hour
Then take off lid, splash in about tbsp of worcestershire sauce, add a handful or two of pasta (I use fusilli) and simmer (without lid) for another fifteen minutes

Yummy and thick and free on green

Can sprinkle on some grated cheddar from healthy option A
