Accepting your body is not the same for all sizes?

Does anyone else think that "intuitive eating" and "accepting your wobbly bits" only really works for people who are only slightly overweight?

Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of it, but once you get to be massively obese like me, more drastic measures are needed. It's no longer just a case of feeling comfortable with how you look, but it's now a matter of life and death.

I'm probably not explaining myself very well, but I'm friends with a few women who have ditched the diets and are accepting themselves as they are, which is great, but when you're only 1-2 stone overweight, it just seems like it's much easier to take that stance.

Yes I get where you're coming from. I have been massively overweight and it was affecting my health and mobility. I don't think I could have ever accepted myself like that as I would have been accepting being in pain for the rest of my (probably shorter) life.

Now I am about a stone from a healthy BMI and the pressure and motivation to lose the last stone has lessened a lot. Not only because I'm a lot healthier and fitter now, but because I don't think I look that bad. When I was at my heaviest I looked unhealthy and it was obvious to everyone, now I'm slimmer I look like an average Jane so don't feel so bothered by the extra stone so much.

The trick is not to get complacent and start old habits again so I get back to being obese which is what I AM struggling with, and what caused me to gain a bit back!
