I really hate sweating

Just for some background info, I'm 5'6 and weigh 19st 7 lbs. I'm autistic this is relevant and struggle massively with sensory issues.

I'm trying to lose weight and get fitter by getting out more but I swea constantly and I absolutely hate the feeling of it. It overloads me sensory wise and I have to go home and strip off because I cannot deal with the feeling of sweat on my clothes touching me but I have no idea how I'm supposed to get fitter and loose weight if the feeling of sweat makes me feel really uncomfortable.

Does anyone have any tips on what I can do?

What are you doing when you're sweating? Are you walking? Try having less layers on before you leave the house? You need to feel a bit cold before you leave house, not comfortably warm as you'll warm up when you move.

Alternatively, losing some weight first would probably help with sweating less (not guaranteed though) so you could try and lose a bit if weight first before upping exercise.

Would swimming be an option for you? There might be an issue re being wet but it's not quite the same and good low impact exercise.

Now it's cooler will it be easier? Wear less when you set off?

Does exercise at home help? Could you buy a stepper or a rower so you can strip off and get in the shower immediately after?

Or go to a decent sports or running shop and ask for advice on proper wicking clothes that will stop your skin feeling so sweaty.

Loosing weight is at least 80% what you eat so you lose weight even if you don’t exercise.

What exercises are you doing that are causing you to sweat so much? You might have to adjust your clothing choices. I get very hot when I run, for example, so I always wear a vest or T-shirt and shorts even in winter. I would boil otherwise.

I sweat constantly, I think it's partly due to my medication but my weight doesn't help. Sweating is bad as soon as I start walking really, today I did the school run. I walked maybe for 2 minutes and I was drenched in sweat 😓 swimming may be a good option, I will give it a go, I haven't been for many years so not sure if I'll be ok with it xx

I've recently started back swimming after many years away. It just takes practice but you'll get there. You won't know until you try anyway!

Good luck OP.

I understand about the sweating. It's a nightmare. I take a fan with me wherever I go as I sweat just doing a light stroll. It's as if my internal thermostat has stopped working. I appreciate you want to get fitter but why don't you set a weight loss goal first. I'm sure when you weigh less, you'll sweat less. Or at least be able to do more before you become unbearably sweaty.

OP, if you are ok with being in water then you could do walking up and down the pool too. If you can, think about joining a 'hotel' gym with a pool. They tend to be quieter and more pleasant with less noise - places like the Holiday Inn or Leonardo hotels can have lovely pools, and they're often not as expensive as you'd think.
