From age 30-35 I’ve been a fairly consistent weight even with 2 pregnancies in that time. Now I’m over 35 in the last year I’ve gained a good 10kg and desperately want to get it off!

I cook a lot and make nutritious meals with plenty of veg, ok portion sizes - but I can’t stop snacking! Anyone else similar, is it my age, or is it the snacks? Need some motivation please!!

Hi, yes I'm 34, 2 kids, and have gained about 10kg in the last year too! Mine has been being too sedentary and relying on sweet treats too much to bring me joy during lockdown. I've been back in the gym the last two weeks (my DH built a gym in our garden this year so I have no excuse!!) And have cut out all snacks, just 3 healthy meals. I've lost 1.7kg in two weeks, so nice and slow and steady but I'm happy with it!!

Sounds a similar story! I’ve been trying to cut back over the last month but only lost about 1kg which is hardly worth the effort! Just can’t quite manage to fully cut the snacks 😩 - how do you resist temptation?

No, that's great, even 1kg off is great! Have you got something that weighs a kg? I picked up a kg bag of oats the other day and thought "bloody hell that's actually really heavy! That's a lot of weight lost!" Obviously I'm happy to have lost, but I was really just looking to cut back so that I didn't gain another 10kg over the next year and then another the year after that!! So to have lost anything is great. I've been doing 16:8, I just wait to eat my breakfast until 10am, I'm so busy sorting the kids in the morning I don't really have time to be hungry, then I have breakfast and lunch fairly close together, then an early tea with the kids and finished eating by 6pm. I don't have much time to be hungry between those meals. The evenings can be harder, I just try and drink plenty of water. If I'm genuinely hungry I will eat again, but I'm often not.
