Hi Fi bars (slimming world)

Part moan, part request for help/ideas.

Up until covid struck in March 2020, I had been going to my local SW and had managed to maintain my 3 stone weight loss for almost 3 years. I've not been able to go back because of shielding, which I have been advised to carry on doing wherever possible by my hospital consultant, as blood tests have shown I haven't managed to gain any antibodies from my two vaccines, so I haven't returned to my group.

Even if I had been able to go, it isn't a safe place. The leader carried on regardless when she and her husband had cold symptoms a couple of weeks ago (even though they are recognised as typical with the delta variant), and only did a PCR test the day after she had run 3 SW classes, so put a lot of people at risk (both she and her husband had positive tests). So I can't go back. I don't want to join online and have to pay every week, which you have to do even if you are a target member, it's only free for target members who attend the group meetings.

This is a long-winded way of saying that this means I can't buy any hi fi bars now. Until recently group members were able to buy them online, but that has now stopped. I have a very sweet tooth and it was mainly due to hi fi bars that I managed to stick to the plan and lose weight in the first place.

So can anyone recommend anything similar to hi fi bars that I can easily buy online or with my weekly supermarket online shop? I'd be so very grateful for any ideas.

The skinny crunch bars are basically a direct rip off of Hifi bars and so much cheaper! You get them in home bargains, B&M, Poundland etc. They do a few different flavours, mint, Rocky road and orange and maybe more. They taste pretty much exactly the same to me! Think £1 a box.

I was in a Range with and Iceland recently and they had hifi bars. I didn't see how much they were tough

eeyoredebbie · 16/08/2021 16:56

Yes Iceland are/were selling actual HiFi bars. But I second skinny crunch bars from home bargains (maybe B&M, Poundland too)

picklemewalnuts · 16/08/2021 17:09

Iceland sells Hi-Fi bars at the same price as classes.

Skinny crunch bars are available online as well as in B&M bargains type places, 5 for £1.

Tesco sell fibre one popcorn bars which are gorgeous!! They are Stilist process to Hi-Fi, but on offer sometimes so I stock up.

picklemewalnuts · 16/08/2021 17:10

That's should have said 'similar price to Hi-Fi bars'

picklemewalnuts · 16/08/2021 21:49

Ooh, the fibreone popcorn bars are 4 for £1 at Iceland at the moment!

Sadly I can't risk going into high street shops just yet...but THANK YOU so much for the suggestions and the heads up about skinny bars - they sell them mail order direct and on Amazon, so my problem is solved. Im so grateful to you all!

Iceland do home delivery?

imnottoofussed · 17/08/2021 11:33

Iceland sell them and they do home delivery

picklemewalnuts · 17/08/2021 14:37

I've just had 8 packs of fibreone bars delivered from Iceland.
I've warmed to Iceland in recent years! Fast delivery and good frozen fruit and veg.

NormallyOK · 17/08/2021 15:51

I'd love to use Iceland but they don't deliver to the area I live in

Aren’t they just 60 calorie bars?

You could have a Kit Kat or a curly wurly for about 100 calories. It would be nutritionally the same.

I’d just look at the biscuit bar aisles of your supermarket and choose something low cal. They’ll probably taste nicer. You don’t need to eat hi fi bars.

picklemewalnuts · 17/08/2021 16:42

@Suprima they are higher in fibre and are included in the plan as a result. You can eat a certain amount of calcium and fibre rich foods without counting them as treats.
So I can have two thin slices of whole meal bread, OR two Hi-Fi bars, or 25g of nuts etc.

Good when you want a chocolate treat, but don't want to spend the points.
