Noom or other weight loss apps

Hi anyone tried this? Is it just about food or also exercise?

If I don't follow an app and I'm told exactly what I have to do then I just don't bother.

Can anyone recommend another?

Thanks x

Do the free trial but make sure you cancel before the end of it or they will take payment (I did manage to get the money back).

I did the trial it it wasn’t for me, it’s basically calorie counting but they give you advice about making healthier choices so you get more food out of your calories. It’s not terrible and I can see how it can work for some people but for me it just made me more obsessed with food and I’m rubbish at logging my intake for each meal, snack and drink. It’s similar to most diets tbh.

For me exercise and making healthy choices is key to losing weight, I know what I have to do but I find it hard not to eat cake 😬

I did noom earlier this year and managed to lose a stone. I found it quite good, but like everything else, just didn't stick to it! it gives you about 5 to 10 minutes if things to read that help you understand your relationship to food and triggers for overeating etc which is quite good.Once you are a paid member you also get put into a group and have a coach. I think you get out of it what you put in and I'm sure it works for some.I found it a bit American, the coach and most of the other people in my group were from there. The food log is not as good as my fitness pal and I also found the app really glitchy and it regularly stopped working. I got quite a good deal - something like £70 for 4 months, so it's definitely worth waiting until you get that kind of offer as their pricing system is not very transparent.

I started Noom at 13 stone 1lb in February and today I am 9 stone 11lb, and size 10. I invested in Noom because I wanted this to be the last time I lost weight and sorted out the role of exercise in my life. It has turned my life around and the psychological input has helped me in other areas of my life. It does not cost any more than Weightwatchers though you pay upfront. I said at the start my aim was to be 9 stone and be able to run 10k (hadn't run for 10 years, now aged 64,) I will be there before too long. It is only worth doing if you are prepared to weigh in daily, record every meal and do the "homework" set. The support from the coaches and your group is very good. I pit on a lot of weight during lockdown and lost the will to exercise but now I feel and look so much better as I enter my last year at work. I recommend it because it has worked so well for me but you can pick holes in anything.

I did the fast 800 for a month, then have just been careful. I’ve lost about 2.5 stone.

I didn’t pay! I watched ‘lose a stone in 21 days’ then used my fitness pal to count calories.
