I stress eat, I eat when I’m bored. I eat when I’m sad and happy and need comfort. My biggest downfalls : cheese, sweets and magnums. Please would love to hear your experience!

Yes of course it is. You just need to decide your way of eating and stick to it. I like low carb as it removes all sugar and carb cravings and reduces my appetite and gives me more energy.

Yes. I lost two stone between the ages of 46 and 47.
Calorie counting (1800 a day), cutting out alcohol and upping the exercise.

AuntieStella · 21/07/2021 08:15

I would have thought so, you're still so young.

My wajor weight loss started when I was about 8 years older than you as I didn't want to be still fat at 50.

VelvetSpoon · 21/07/2021 08:15

Absolutely - I lost 7st in a year aged 46/47.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 21/07/2021 08:19

I hope so.

Like you I just need to change my indulgent eating habits. I'm not one of those people who eat a healthy diet and yet stack on weight - I think that is much harder to fight.

Moonlight1972 · 21/07/2021 08:51

Thank you :) as of today I am 99.7 for 5f7. I want to change that. I completely cut off on alcohol, next sweet stuff so it means I have to go low carbs.

Try Slimming World. Works for me and lots of others.

mamaoffourdc · 21/07/2021 08:54

Yep I'm 42 and have lost 2 stone - 1200 calories a day using MyFitnessPal

Yes! I was over 100kg at age 43 I started walking and strength training to lose almost 30kg. I feel like I have a second chance at life, it hasn’t always been easy but it’s the best thing I could have done. It’s taken me about 18 months to get to this stage.

Pinkandwhiteblossom · 21/07/2021 08:56

It is possible but it’s much harder. I lost 3st in four months on WW in my early 30s and 1.5 st in 3 months on WW after I had kids. I am now menopausal and mid 40s and struggling to lose half a stone Sad. The address has that worked in the past just don’t work now. I gained it almost overnight and it just won’t shift.

Pinkandwhiteblossom · 21/07/2021 08:56

The things that worked in the past!! Bloody autocorrect

DrNo007 · 21/07/2021 08:57

I just lost 2 kilos by cutting out sweet stuff completely (and no artificial sweeteners either, they just mess with your brain and encourage cravings and overeating) and missing breakfast, so each day has an 18 hr fast in it.

DrNo007 · 21/07/2021 08:58

Forgot to add I am in my 60s.

Bluntness100 · 21/07/2021 08:58

Low carb is great, it’s not difficult. The first three weeks are, but after that your appetite decreases, you see visible differences in your appearance and you have more energy

There a boot camp thread on here, look at that. It’s run by biwi and stuntnun.

Typical breakfast

Greek yoghurt with low carb granola, flaked almonds
Or eggs, any way you please, with whatever you please Ie mushrooms, bacon etc.

Lunch, salad with cheese, tuna, any protein you fancy. Salads inc lettuce, with tomatoes, cucumbers, avocado, etc and a good olive oil dressing or whatever low carb one you like.

Dinner, any protein, chicken wings skin on, chicken, pork, beefburgers, bolognaise, curry, seafood etc, with non root veg, salad, cauliflower rice etc,

It’s a really healthy way of eating and you don’t need to pump complex carbs or sugar into your body as some people believe to be healthy.

I'm a similar age and I've lost two stone, fairly slowly but it's worked for me, about 0.5lbs a week in average. I fast, 16-18 hours most days with an occasional longer fast thrown in. We are also trying to eat more fish and veg so following mediterranean diet principles.

I'm not a fan of cutting out food groups personally. Fasting really, really works for me as I flex to suit what I'm doing and it doesn't feel like a diet, the body recomposition has been the best aspect, I'm the same weight I was 4 years ago but a dress size smaller.

Astrabees · 24/07/2021 13:47

I'm 64 and I've lost 3 stone 4lb since February.

Muuuuuuuum · 24/07/2021 13:52

Mid 40s and lost 10kg over 4 months this year. I just stuck to 1200 calories (well tried to) - for me easiest way to do this was less booze, fewer carbs and more fruit and veg.

I used Noom app but think free calorie counting app would work just as well.

RumHoney · 24/07/2021 13:54

Yes. I went from 86kg to about 61 at age 41/42. Calorie counting and exercise, plus making sure I got enough protein. nothing more sophisticated than that.

Pissinthepottyplease · 24/07/2021 13:55

My MIL list a significant amount of weight in her late 60s.
