Paul McKenna - I can make you thin/freedom from emotional eating

Hi!

Just posting incase anyone else was using Paul McKenna methods, or was looking to start and have some support.

I was on a thread a few months back but have completely lost it now, so figured a fresh start might be a good plan.

I'm using the Paul McKenna app, and also have the freedom from emotional eating book, and I was feeling in a really good place and had started feeling so much more positive around food and about my body, but then old habits have crept in, so I need to restart, commit, and get myself back in the right headspace again. It would be great to have some others along for the ride.

The concept is very simple - eat when you're hungry, eat what you want, eat mindfully, stop when you're full.

I've slipped back into eating with distractions etc and stopped listening to my fullness cues as well as I had been, so I'm hoping I can get back on track with eating more mindfully!

I'm on day 50.
I am exactly the same weight as when I started.

I am feeling very stuck. Do I just need to accept that I'll never be a size 10 again? Do I just need to accept that from here on in, my health is going to require eating things I don't enjoy and denying myself the food I do enjoy?

I just can't do it.

Monestera - I’m sorry you weigh the same. I don’t know what to say. It is technically less than two months. Do you think you’re the same dress size? Healthier?

I’m 3lbs down which isn’t much. But I find myself overeating and also over drinking so I need to stay on the book.

Can I join the thread? I'm on day two and really hoping it helps shake out some unhealthy eating habits. I'm pretty fine with healthy meals but binge on sweet stuff around them. I'm in the right headspace for change at the mo and have everything crossed this might give me the tools I need to really change my thinking.
Christ, mindful eating takes forever though! Grin

Hi @Monestera. It's hard to say without seeing you, but could you already be a good weight for your height? What is your BMI?
I could technically be a 10 and not be under weight, but in reality it's not a natural state for me. At a 14 my BMI is healthy and I feel good. Perhaps you're similar at a 12? We've all been conditioned to think the smaller we are the better but if you're eating what you like, not hungry and maintaining a healthy weight, perhaps that's it, you've reached nirvana?
I might be way off but it's just a thought.

I've been doing really badly at sticking to mindful and slow eating since I last posted. Lots of general job stress.

My BMI is just below obese (not being coy, just remember that bit only). I’ve been reading Susie Orbach’s approach and getting back on track. I just can’t listen to the McKenna track any more.
