Lockdown weight gain.... crikey

Sooo ... yeah it appears I have grown quite a considerable amount during lockdown. I have put on what feels like about 3 stone and literally nothing fits me 😪 that's the first problem- the 2nd problem is I CANNOT seem to get my (fat) arse into gear to shift it? Like seriously, I feel so irritated with myself yet I can't get motivated to loose it!

Please tell me I'm not the only one?

You're definitely not the only one.

What do you think losing it will entail? You've still got to shop, plan, cook whether you lose weight or not. I'm not following a plan as I'm too lazy to do different meals to rest of family but I've lost just under a stone in almost a month by:

  • not snacking (I've had the odd cake/ice cream but only on days where my main meals have been very light)
  • sticking to light lunch and breakfast, and a well balanced evening meal (whatever the family are eating usually, but have stuff in to make simple meal for me if required - scrambled eggs, mackerel fillets & grilled tomatoes etc)
  • no white bread. It sends me spiralling.

I also don't drink much but when I do I have G&T. During the last month I've also gone out for meals and had takeaway but tried to choose options which will work for me and/or pull back for the rest of the day.

I can't exercise much apart firm walking as Im recovering from an accident which left me immobile for much of last year but I'm trying to get at least 8k steps in (for me and my short legs that's usually around 5km)

Sorry if it sounds like I'm hammering a point home, but I just wanted to highlight it doesn't need to be an intensive, restrictive plan if you want to lose weight. You can make relatively small changes like I am (but be strict/honest with yourself!). I have a lot to lose and I'm in no doubt I will see a plateau at some point and have to change things up but I promise you, if you commit to maybe 2 weeks you will change habits and start to feel like you can do it!

You're not the only one. I've put on 11kg since March 2020. I'm just calorie counting now. No bread, no crisps (my two great loves 😭), and logging everything onto Nutracheck/MFP. I'm keeping to around 1200 calories a day. So far, I'm managing to lose approx 1kg a week. Logging the calories really helps me make better choices.

Aww you guys are the best! I think I'm so guilty of stress eating/ snacking/ eating the kids left overs etc! I used to be able to drop weight so fast but I dunno if it's an age thing that's making it harder but I'm definitely finding it depressing. I'm going to really try and make the best effort each day to eat healthy and not snack!

I did keto a while ago and lost quite a bit but found. It too restrictive for me plus I was still cooking separate meals for my family! Good ole Calorie counting is my best bet!

Here's to day 1
