Hi mumsnetters,

I'm looking to start following a diet/lifestyle plan to try and shift 2 stone that I've got to be my optimal weight. CW 12s7, GW 10s7 or 10s10 I'd be fine with to be fair.

I need your collective advice on which type of plan is best for:

  • A serial diet failer
  • Low movement motivation due to young baby (Please read; won't be off to do spinning or HIIT 4 times a week)
  • Happy to do smaller bits of exercise, such as use my cross trainer and do walks with baby
  • Someone who has tried IF and struggled due to needing (wanting?) to eat in the morning by at least 9am as ill likely have been up since early with the baby, and someone who ends up eating later like 7/8pm due to feeding/putting baby to bed etc.
  • Want to shift at least 1 stone in about 2 months! To keep my motivation up. Need some quick results.
  • still breastfeeding and will be for 3 months or so most likely longer so nothing crazy.

I'm happy to cook from scratch as I prefer homemade but I hate eggs before anyone suggests omelettes, frittatas, boiled egg snacks Grin

HELP

(And yes I'm on several diet threads and still trying to lose the weight I'd wanted to lose approx 5 months ago)

Check out the thread ‘Why We Eat’ Based on the book of the same name.

If you are a yo yo dieter, you might benefit from this new way of eating.

Thank you! I will check it out

I find simple calorie counting easiest. I can't diet or cut out food groups.

I downloaded nutracheck, you do have to pay for it. MFP is good too.

Quite simply eat a healthy breakfast, lunch and dinner with very minimal snacks. Try to include protein and veg in all meals to make sure they're filling.

Typical day would be porridge with berries, chicken salad roll with Greek yoghurt, handful of nuts or veg sticks with hummus for an afternoon snack only if hungry, then a healthy, ordinary dinner.

Nothing is off limits, there is room for the occasional blip, I try to incorporate half the week quite low calorie dinners so then there's room for a few higher calorie meals too. Weight everything so you can be sure of portion size.

I probably need to get down to the fundamental reasons why I eat snacks on top of healthy meals as I do cook everything homemade.
It's probably a combo of breastfeeding, tiredness and general lack of motivation at the moment ! I need to have a full read of the Why We Eat thread as a PP suggested

Snacking has always been my biggest problem too. Meals are always ok but it's the extra things I can eat that add up. I find calorie counting a good reminder that that slice of cake I crave can have a few hundred calories.

Good luck with it op.

Yeah snacking is the killer for me! I need to stick to my calorie count x
