Motivation flatlined

I have been calorie counting for a little while. I started in earnest at the start of February and lost 2 stone over the course of 4 months. I am so pleased, it was totally manageable and didn't feel arduous at all. But now I havent lost anything for the past 3 weeks which is because I just have lost the motivation to eat more moderately.

When I got to my last stone marker my DH who needed to loose weight, but not as much as me said he'd do it along side me which I thought would give me a boost but actually it's just made me grumpy cos he's all motivated at the start and mine has flatlined.

I need to loose another stone really, but maybe another two so need to get back on it. Is anyone over the other side of this hump and can offer some ideas of what got you past.

Thanks.

Mine has too. It also coincided with my DH deciding to lose weight. Makes me feel quite miserable that even with a 700ish calorie deficit he's still eating 2000+ calories a day! I'm very jealous.

I've decided to take a bit of a break from strict counting as it was beginning to mess with my head a bit. Logging everything and seeing my high calorie count was not encouraging. So for the past few days I haven't weighed anything but I have tried to make good choices with food.

There's nothing more likely to take you out of the zone than a plateau.

Try measuring as well as weighing - you may find you've lost inches even though your weight stays the same.

Another tactic is to give yourself a week off - the chances are that going off your diet will be a bit of an anti-climax and you'll be glad to get back onto it.

A final thing to ask yourself is, have you let the diet slip a bit - being really honest with yourself?

Ultimately, plateaus happen - more often as the amount you have to lose goes down. You're lighter, so you're using less energy in your day to day activity. If you stick at it, the weight will come off eventually.
