Which diet? Need something strict

I have around 7 stone to lose and I’m looking for a strict diet, which is the best one please?
Weight watchers, slimming world, calorie counting etc involves too many choices/thought/planning
I need something more like one choice for each meal type of plan. A plan where I can’t cheat etc

I lost over 7st by using my fitness pal to log everything I eat. I keep my carbs to 100g per day and stay within my calorie allowance. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes so I viewed mine as a lifestyle change not a diet. No food is off limits but I don’t go over 100g of carbs per day or exceed calories. My type 2 is in remission.

Well you can always cheat... I know you are looking for a quick solution but that amount of weight loss is a long road. There is no right plan, just the one that suits you. I would really recommend Ranjan Chatterjee’s loose weight feel great - it’s not a diet but a general weight loss guide, then from there do some reading on different methods and decide what might suit you. Then give yourself a good week to get organised

Nutricheck is a good app for calorie counting
Weight watchers is a points based/calorie reduction plan
Second Nature is a low carb option
5/2 fasting - but not for anyone with an eating disorder
Slimmers world, if you like cooking and carbs, but not if you struggle with it portion control

Give yourself time to find the right thing. It’s a long road.

Tbh I think named diet are my downfall rather just go with calorie counting and myfitnesspal. Once you've got used to that then try intermittent fasting. Pretty much following @IggyAce advice.

This is not very exciting but pretty much what I'm doing:
B - weetabix
L - Soup that I have batch cooked or a quick salad
D - A low cal Gousto meal
Snacks - tea, mixed nuts, cucumber sticks, carrots, grapes

I find the Cambridge weight plan very easy.
Lose weight very fast too.
You will have 4 products a day, lots of water and that’s it.

I've just started second nature, and enjoying it so far - it is aimed at long term goals, with CBT approach to see it as a healthier way of eating.
Low carb, avoiding ultra processed foods rather than calorie counting.

A few years ago I did the Blood Sugar Diet - very low carb, 8 weeks at 800 cal or less, then healthy eating (5-2 fasting or Mediterranean diet). It was newish when I did it, and there was a very active and supportive chat forum; it's still there, but very quiet in comparison.

Lots of people extended the 8 week starter period. I lost about 25k in 3-4 months, and have gained around 10kg of that over the last five years. Whenever I realise I need to try and loose some again, cutting carbs is always my first step.
I'm hoping that the second nature program will reinforce things longer term.

Currently reading a book called Thin Woman's Brain - hence my recently adopted user name - which is quite good.

I'm doing a shake diet. 2 shakes, 2 100 cal snacks, 1 healthy evening meal. Very easy, as I dobt have to think about breakfast or lunch. Lost 17lbs in 6weeks. Could have lost more but had a holidays and few other occasions.

allfurcoatnoknickers · 07/06/2021 15:54

16:8 fasting, then progressing to 20:4. Easier to just not eat outside the window, than worry about what you're eating, snacking etc.

lazylinguist · 07/06/2021 16:34

There is no plan where you can't cheat, otherwise everyone would be doing it and nobody would ever have to sign up and pay more than once!

Low carb, calorie counting or intermittent fasting get good results for the minority who can stick to them long term. The best thing to do is just not have snack foods, sugary stuff and processed crap in the house. Difficult unless you live alone though.

I lost over five stone on Lighter Life last year and it’s keeping off. It worked for me because it was strict, there were no grey areas just three shakes and a bar every day. It took me 20 weeks.

Loocheeyar · 07/06/2021 23:33

Read the book why we eat too much by Andrew jenkinson it’s amazing it’s changed everything for me
Cut out all grains and read up about omega 3 and 6 balance .

16:8. Eat a normal lunch and dinner within the 8 hour period and then try and move to 18:6. Avoid bread and pasta more than once a week but don't cut any other food group or you will risk binging.

It does work as long as you don't eat constantly during the 8 hours.

justanotherneighinparadise · 08/06/2021 06:59

No sugar would be an excellent starting point to ease into something like Keto. You can be really strict but still eat food that fills you up. Don’t try and strictly calorie count. It will get you to a certain point and then your metabolism will adjust and you’ll be stuck eating tiny amounts of food abd losing nothing.
